The city of Rosenberg is once again in jeopardy of losing its recycling privileges with Republic Services and is seeking residents’ feedback on the situation.
At the January 26 City Council Workshop Meeting, David Aguilar, Manager of Municipal Services with Republic Services – the City’s solid waste and recycling provider, again addressed improper recycling concerns with City Council members. The problem was first brought to Council’s attention in 2019. Despite attempts to educate residents on the correct recycling processes, the problem still exists. If just one resident recycles improperly, the entire truck load of recycling may then be “downgraded” or taken to the solid waste landfill. This is becoming a costly problem for Republic Services who is suggesting suspending the recycling program until their contract with the City expires on September 30, 2022.
This is where the City seeks resident's help. The City has created a survey and is requesting feedback from Rosenberg residents on the future of Rosenberg’s recycling program. The survey will only take a few minutes to complete. Rosenberg resident’s input is very important to the City as they work with Republic Services on potential changes to the program. Resident’s personal information will not be shared and answers will remain confidential.
