Two Hearts, One Home - Brian and Gina's Story

Everyone can use a saving grace now and again, which is exactly what Brian Johnson offered Gina Roose the day she realized she no longer had a place to call home. Over the past few years, Brian and Gina had both fallen on hardships, leaving each of them teetering on the brink of being homeless. Despite many uncertainties, their friendship had always remained strong, and their bond continued to grow as they sought out Habitat for Humanity for support. Since finding home once again, Brian and Gina have gradually pieced their lives back together and are now able focus on what matters most - their love for each other.

Earlier this month, state representatives from Govenor Newsom's office visited our Purpose Place Apartments in Orland, CA to learn more about the early successes of this affordable housing development and how it has positively impacted the Glenn County community.

Moving Forward with Merriment

Habitat for Humanity Yuba/Sutter is very excited to announce that we will be moving forward with Phase 1 construction on our Merriment Village project after receiving confirmation that our organization is to be awarded over $24 million in Homekey 3 grant funding. This affordable housing development will be located at 428 North Walton Avenue in Yuba City and will provide 217 units primarily serving elderly, veterans, and displaced families once complete.

Every second Monday of the month, the Yuba-Sutter Food Bank provides pre-packaged meals at 202 D Street in Marysville to help combat food insecurity. We encourage anyone who could use the extra help to take advantage of this amazing resource.

Weathering the Storm: How Habitat Can Help with Home Repairs


Have the frequent stormy conditions wreaked havoc on your home and left you unable to afford repairs? Whether you've got a leaky roof, structural issues, or other damages, Habitat's Home Repair Program is here to assist. Thanks to our partnerships with USDA and Yuba County, low-income households in the unincorporated areas of Yuba County may qualify for loans or grants up to $40,000.
