Loving Connections

On behalf of our students, families and staff we want to thank all of our donors, volunteers and community advocates for your unwavering support of our program.

We appreciate everything you do year-round to help us make an impact during the most formative year of a child's life!

Program Spotlight

Wild Plum Center offers various programs and opportunities for young children and families. Olivia, who is 2 years old, started in the Home Based Program in September of 2022. She has experienced and witnessed a lot of trauma in her short life so far, and since starting in the Wild Plum Center programming she and her family have been able to find their footing. The family has found permanent housing solutions, started counseling, and are receiving support services for Mental Health and recovery.

Olivia has had significant attachment issues with her mom because of the trauma she has experienced. This raised concerns for her ability to transition into a classroom setting, but after a recent conference with her Family Mentor at Wild Plum Center she was introduced to some peers in a classroom and immediately started interacting. She showed interest in activities, ate lunch with the class, and used some socialization skills that she has learned from participating in the Home Based Program.

After not even 6 months with the program, Olivia will be transitioning fully into the WPC classroom setting. This transition will help build structure and support for the family, who is so excited about this opportunity and it has been a relief to have the support that WPC is able to offer. Olivia's family has not had much consistency in their lives, and the Home Based program provided that for them in both small and big ways. This transition will provide more opportunities to learn, engage, and thrive every single day.
