Fall is a very busy time on Rosie Belle Farm. Our beautiful herd sire, Greyson, went from the majestic creature pictured above left to the stinky rutting snorting beast pictured above right. The yellow face and beard he is now sporting are NOT the result of a quick trip to the beauty parlor. Nope, boy goats attract the girls by peeing all over themselves. Gross, I know, but the females seem to dig it. Makes me appreciate the human mating rituals....a fancy dinner and a bouquet of flowers is much more appealing, don't you think?
Stinky Boy Goats means that we have shut down the Goat Dairy. The milk becomes tainted by the smell of the boys in the barnyard and if we want spring babies, the boys have to be in the barnyard. Biology and all that. Anywhoo....look for Goat Milk Products to reappear in late winter/early spring once libidos simmer down a bit.

Pekin Duck is back on the shopping list! My new kitchen assistant, Matt, wowed us with an amazing duck breast dinner this week. He is a very talented fellow who knows his way around the kitchen, leaving me with a bit more time with the animals and my garden. It is all about striking the proper balance! The Farmer is on the way to the processor today with three hogs so bacon will be back on the menu with the next delivery. We also have rabbit making an appearance on the menu next month, which is new to Rosie Belle Farm.
Now on to the the prepared foods....We have some new items and some old favorites this week. I am excited about our new Santa Fe Chicken Meat Pie. Farm chicken, two farm cheeses, tomatillos, tomatoes, black beans, fresh corn and more, all nestled in a flaky crust. Vegans will be delighted by our Spicy Grain Stew with grilled Shiitake mushrooms. It is my Vegetarian Son's favorite Mom Dish and even the Meat Eating Farmer loves it. Our Personal Pizza this week is Margarita. We have a new vegan dip on the menu....African Lentil Dip. Spicy red lentils with a hint of cumin and cilantro. Delicioso! Finally, we are happy to offer Roasted Jalapeno Cow Balls. Hannah says they are the Cow Balls by which all other cow balls will now be judged! They are accompanied by an Adobe Honey Glaze and really are a treat.

YOUR CSA PLAN OPTIONS:
There are three programs to choose from each time and you DO NOT have to commit to anything more than the basic program. However, you CAN choose to order more if it works for your schedule. You will never lose your points. If you are out of town, you will be charged, but simply roll your points over to the following weeks.
BASIC PLAN: 32 point per month, $150 per month, $75 payable the 2nd and 4th week of the month
WANT A BIT MORE PLAN: 50 points per month, $210 per month, $105 due twice monthly.
THE FULL MONTY: 65 points per month, $260 monthly, $130 payable twice monthly.
You can flit between plans as you see fit. Milk can be frozen, with minor effect. Breads freeze beautifully. Yogurts last three weeks. eggs last several weeks in refrigerator, so stocking up may make sense for you!
