MOMS' NIGHT AT THE UNITED CENTER
AHAI Moms are invited to attend the 4th Annual Moms' Night at the United Center on Wednesday, November 29 from 6:30 to 9:00pm, to learn more about concussion education and safety in youth hockey. Every Mom in attendance will receive a goody bag and a raffle ticket for a chance to win  4 tickets to a Chicago Blackhawks game .

The A Step aHead Committee is excited to announce that this year's event will be held in the beautiful new Atrium at the United Center. There is a nominal, non-refundable $10 fee to attend this year's event. 100% of this money will go to the Eddie Olczyk Youth Hockey Award which supports young hockey players and teams in Illinois who may not have the means to play at a competitive level.

Moms will have the opportunity to explore fun, interactive and informative stations and exhibits (see agenda below) followed by presentations and Q&A from Dr. Elizabeth Pieroth, SportFuel Nutrition and Athletico Physical Therapy. All Moms attending will also receive 25% off everything in the Madhouse Team Store (excluding memorabilia) and have a chance to mingle with Chicago Blackhawks Stanley Cup Champion and Community Liaison, Jamal Mayers.

Young Athletes Can Stay in Shape and Still Enjoy a Thanksgiving Meal

Attention High School Seniors: The Blackhawk Alumni Association Scholarship Application Process Begins December 1st
The Blackhawk Alumni Association (BHAA) distributes college scholarships annually to the three most deserving high school hockey players. Awards are determined from a candidate's level of community service, volunteerism, good citizenship, academic performance as well as the hockey talent of the individual. Recipients will receive an annual $7,500.00 scholarship over four years for a total of $30,000.  Starting December 1st of each year, scholarship applications are available for online entry at  www.blackhawkalumni.com . Fully completed applications including letter of recommendations, and scholar essays are due no later than February 1st of each year.  READ MORE>>
Turkey, Stuffing and Plenty of Local H.S. Hockey for Thanksgiving
By Ross Forman ~ Don't eat too much pumpkin pie, there's plenty of high school hockey happening locally over the Thanksgiving break.  The annual Stevenson Thanksgiving Tournament officially kicks off on Monday, Nov. 20, when BG/H/W battles the Skokie U18 midget team, with the puck set to drop at 7:25 p.m., at Twin Rinks Ice Pavilion in Buffalo Grove. Meanwhile, the 46th annual Loyola Thanksgiving Tournament will feature its traditional 16-team field in Wilmette, along with a separate 8-team tournament. The Varsity 1 lineup features many of the elite Illinois teams, such as New Trier Green, Glenbrook North, Benet Academy, Providence Catholic and St. Viator, among others. PREDICTIONS>>

24th Annual Chicago Blackhawks Charities High School Hockey Classic
The 24th Annual Chicago Blackhawks Charities High School Hockey Classic, presented by the Chicago Blackhawks Charities, will take place at the Edge Ice Arena located  from Tuesday, December 26, 2017 through Friday, December 29, 2017. All Tournament proceeds benefit Chicago Blackhawks Charities which supports amateur hockey as well as underprivileged and abused children. OPRF Is Building a Successful Program On, Off the Ice
By Ross Forman ~ Liam Burns, a senior forward for Oak Park River Forest in his fourth varsity season, is a team leader who shines at both ends of the ice. He was All-State last year and doubled his efforts to improve over the summer, his coaches said. Burns' lone negative, if he has one on the ice, it is that he is too unselfish, always looking to pass even if it means passing up a scoring chance of his own.  READ MORE>>
New Trier Varsity Undefeated in the Metro Girls League
By Pam Flores ~ We are about midway through the tiering round of the Metro Girls High School season and all the girls' teams are playing hard to secure a spot in the Scholastic or Founders division. New Trier Varsity is currently in first place with an undefeated 6-0 record. Glenbrook South High School is currently in the second spot at 5-2-1, followed by Loyola Academy at 4-2 and Lake Forest at 4-1.  The competition among the teams has been fierce but friendly! U.S. Junior Select Team Coaching Staff and Player Roster Unveiled
USA Hockey announced the 22 players for the 2017 U.S. Junior Select Team that includes includes Illinois' Graham Lillibridge (Geneva), Jack Drury (Winnetka) and Jack Randl (Carpentersville). The U.S. Junior Select Team will participate in the 2017 World Junior A Challenge from Dec. 10-16 in Truro, Nova Scotia  FULL ARTICLE>>

Ice Dogs U15 RW Brian Fiddes Thankful to Be Back on the Ice
By Ross Forman ~ In pain one day in late-October, sophomore Brian Fiddes went to see the nurse at Barrington High School. He thought it was a simple stomach ache.  His mom quickly came to the school and brought him home. Neither thought it was anything too, too serious.  Brian went to his room and went to bed.  "After a little while, I determined this wasn't any basic issue...and was bent over holding my lower left abdomen," Fiddes said.  READ MORE>>
Chicago Mission & Sabre Hockey Claim CCM Girls World Invite Titles
Two (2) Illinois girls teams claimed CCM World Invite Championship titles on November 12th, the Chicago Mission Girls 14U and the Sabre Girls 19U teams. Illinois also had numerous teams advance through to the quarter final round (click HERE for a complete list).  A shout out to all our Illinois girls teams for their nice showing at the 2017 CCM World Girls Invite in Detroit!

Chicago Blackhawks Holiday Hockey Camp
Join us at MB Ice Arena, the new Chicago Blackhawks Community Ice Rink, for a two-day Holiday Hockey Camp! The camp will provide a fun, skill-oriented experience for local youth hockey players and feature Blackhawks alumni coaches. Camp will run five hours per day and include an exclusive Blackhawks Holiday Camp jersey. Proceeds from the Chicago Blackhawks Holiday Hockey Camp will go to the Eddie Olczyk Youth Hockey Award. Beko Home Appliances 1 on 1 Challenge
In partnership with AHAI  and Beko Home Appliances , the Chicago Blackhawks shootout competition allows participants to showcase their skills while contending to become the top shooter or goalie in the Squirt-age division. The competition will take place at the MB Ice Arena on  January 3, 2018 . The top two goalies and top two skaters will battle for the championship in front of a sellout crowd at the United Center during the intermission of the Chicago Blackhawks home game on  January 7, 2018 ! The winning team (player and goalie) will accompany the Chicago Blackhawks Fan Development staff to the 2018 NHL® All-Star Game in Tampa Bay from  January 27-28, 2018  to compete against other Squirt-age winners from around the NHL.
