Englewood Chief of Police Lawrence Suffern

Chief Suffern is a lifelong Englewood resident. He attended the Englewood Public Schools and graduated from Dwight Morrow High School in 1986. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree and a Master of Administrative Science degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University. 

Chief Suffern began his entrance into law enforcement as a police dispatcher in July 1987 with the Englewood Police Department. He subsequently started his career as a police officer July 1988, for the Englewood Police Department.
He served in the patrol division, juvenile bureau as a detective, Internal Affairs Unit, traffic bureau, records bureau, patrol supervisor, administrative officer, and commanded various platoons in the patrol division and rose through the ranks. In January 2014, he was promoted to the rank of Chief of Police, where he is honored to serve the community and the men and women of the department.  

Chief Suffern is married to Courtnay and the proud father of two daughters Laura 27 and Halle 18.

Service Spotlight

Rotary Club of Englewood continues to address food insecurity in our community. After President, Dr. Lisa Wisotsky and Rotarians Scott Reddin, Devry Pazant and Dr. Michael Passow presented a check of $2000 to Nicole Davis of the Center for Food Action on behalf of the Club, Scott, Devry and Michael loaded boxes of food into the car trunks of recipients at the Martin Luther King Day of Service event.
