Matts came to America from Sweden in 1981 with a grant from the Swedish Government to develop a personal computer in California. He became a U.S. Citizen in 1995, and joined the Rotary Club of New York in 1998. He transferred to the Rotary Club of Yonkers in 2008 where he is a past President. He served as District Governor in 2013-3014 for Rotary District 7230.

Matts is a founding member and current Director of the Rotary Global History Fellowship (RGHF), and a Chair and Founding Member since 2014 of Rotary Grassroots Peacemaking. He has participated in peacemaking discussions including conflicts involving North and South Korea, China and Taiwan, Russia and Ukraine, Serbia and Kosovo, Israel and Palestine, India and Pakistan.

VETERANS DAY WAS CELEBRATED
WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 11th

Last year, we honored our Englewood Rotary Club Veterans at our 11/12/19 meeting at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. Pictured are our members Eddie Hadden, Norman Davis and Phil Ball.
Although we can't meet in person this year, the Rotary Club of Englewood salutes our Club's Veterans and all U.S. Veterans.

Dr. Ken Rosenzweig

Ken Rosenzweig grew up in Brooklyn, NY and attended Abraham Lincoln High School. He subsequently went to Brown University, Yale University School of Medicine and did his medical training in Radiation Oncology at Harvard Medical School. He returned to the New York Metro region when he moved to Englewood in 1997 and began working at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. In 2010, he was appointed Chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology at Mount Sinai, where he supervises one of the largest departments in the country and is responsible for the care of hundreds of cancer patients in all parts of the city every day. He specializes in the treatment of lung cancer and mesothelioma and has lectured throughout the United States and over ten countries. 

Ken served as the First Ward Councilman from 2006 -11 where he oversaw remarkable growth in the city while maintaining its character. Earlier this year, he decided to throw his hat back in the ring and run for the open council seat. This past election day, he was voted back into office and will resume his duties as Councilman in January, 2021. Since he has last been on the council, he has continued to serve in various Englewood committees, including the Englewood Democratic Municipal Committee and the Englewood Planning Board, where he is currently Chair. He is an active member of the Jewish community. He and his wife, Stacey, were founding members of the East Hill Synagogue and were honored by the Kesher Synagogue in 2013 with their Community Service Award. Stacey and Ken have three daughters, Olivia, Shoshana and Rebecca. Ken's main hobby is long distance running. He has completed over 25 marathons, including three ultramarathons.
