Summer months are peak time for road work in Virginia, and construction activities will continue to ramp up along the Route 7 corridor in several areas:
- On westbound Route 7 between the Colvin Run Mill area and Reston Avenue, work is ongoing to widen shoulders. Once complete, westbound lanes will shift slightly to the right to give crews room to work in the median to construct temporary eastbound lanes. Please watch for signs indicating minor changes to the familiar traffic pattern through this area.
- Several types of work, such as pipe installation, median excavation, utility and temporary signal work, are taking place in the median of Route 7 between the Colvin Run Mill area and Reston Avenue.
- Construction of the third left turn lane from westbound Route 7 to southbound Baron Cameron Avenue has begun and is expected to be complete by end of summer.
