Construction Update
U.S. Route 7, Charlotte-South Burlington

Motorists can expect lane closures in the vicinity of active construction operations along Route 7 in Charlotte throughout the week of 8/14 during nighttime work hours. Traffic control personnel will be onsite helping to direct the flow of traffic. Please expect delays.


Milling operations have been completed from the southern project limit through the intersection of Bostwick Road/Marsett Road. Work next week will be concentrated south of this intersection.

Paving of the leveling course (not the final layer) of asphalt is scheduled to begin on Monday, 8/15 beginning on the south end near Charlotte Crossings and progress to the north. Expect crews to be on the roadway at approximately 7:00 p.m.

Work on this contract will be performed at night. Typical nighttime work hours are 7:00 p.m.-6:00 a.m. Sunday through Thursday night. It should be noted, however, that work may be performed at times on Friday nights.

Residents and business owners should anticipate increased noise levels during construction activities. The construction area will also have increased lighting overnight in order to ensure the safety of the crew. The contractor will take necessary measures to ensure noise levels remain within approved decibel levels.

Milling operations from the southern project limit in Charlotte north to the intersection of Marsett Rd./Bostwick Rd. have been completed.

LOCATION: This project begins on U.S. Route 7 in Charlotte from the vicinity of Brown Lane (south of Ferry Road) and continues northerly for 10.2 miles to the intersection with Swift Street in South Burlington.
The project area during the 2022 construction season includes U.S. Route 7 from Charlotte to Webster Road (the jug handle) in Shelburne.
