Road & Bridge Updates:

  • Please remove all trailers, cars, debris and dirt piles, basketball hoops, etc. off of the county roads and out of the right of way as we are starting our winter plowing operations. This will help us plow more efficiently and allow for adequate snow storage as winter sets in.
  • Please do not plow snow across county roads. Not only is it illegal, but it creates a safety hazard for our plow drivers. Help keep them safe…. Do not plow across the road.

Routt County Winter Road Maintenance: As we prepare for snow, we wanted to remind our community where to find information about winter road maintenance: https://www.co.routt.co.us/878/Winter-Maintenance. Please contact the Road & Bridge Department at 970-870-5552 if you have questions.

Building Department Updates
New Partnerships for Contractor Exams: The Routt County Building Department is excited to announce new partnerships with the Bud Warner Memorial Library and Colorado Mountain College in Steamboat Springs for contractor exams. Bud Warner Memorial Library has both the 2015 and 2018 ICC Code Books that can be checked out to study for exams. These books may also be used to take the exam as the exams are open book. In addition, we have formed a partnership with Colorado Mountain College in Steamboat Springs. They are now a test proctor option when scheduling the Contractor Exam through PersonVu. We would like to sincerely thank the Library and the College for supporting this partnership with the Routt County Building Department to streamline the process and reduce costs for our local contractors. In the past, contractors were limited to checking books out from the Building Department office, and they had to travel to Denver, Grand Junction, or Laramie to take the exam. These partnerships allow everything to be accessed locally in Routt County.

Check Drop Box No Longer Available: The Routt County Building Department has removed the check drop box from the Annex Building at the downtown campus. All checks must be mailed directly to the Routt County Building Department, or dropped off during normal business hours. We appreciate your understanding of this change.
Public Health Updates
Vaccine Bus Around Routt: The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) Vaccine Bus is headed to Routt County to provide free flu and COVID-19 vaccinations for the community. Vaccines are free, and no ID or insurance needed. If you are getting a follow-up dose, please bring your CDC vaccine card.

COVID-19 Update: All Routt County COVID-19 information can be found on the Public Health pages on the Routt County website. You can always check on COVID rates in Routt County by checking the COVID-19 dashboard which is currently updated weekly. It was updated November 3 to share the COVID-19 metrics and vaccination rates.

Colorado COVID-19 Updates: Colorado is no longer reporting daily COVID-19 infections or deaths on its public dashboard as the state continues its move toward a "new normal" in year three of the pandemic. Starting this week, the state's COVID-19 website will be updated weekly, rather than each day. The latest numbers will be posted at 4:00 pm Wednesdays.

Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV): Hospitals nation-wide are facing an increase in Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV). RSV is a common respiratory virus that usually causes cold-like symptoms. The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) is reporting the highest rates of pediatric RSV hospitalizations in the last 5 years and admissions continue to increase. RSV can be serious, especially for infants, young children, and older adults. To protect yourself, your child and your loved ones from becoming sick with RSV it is important to follow general public health measures which include: washing your hands with soap and water frequently, covering your coughs and sneezes, cleaning and disinfecting high-touch surfaces regularly, and not touching your face with unwashed hands. Please remember it is always important to avoid close contact with those who are sick and to stay home when you’re sick as this can help limit the spread of RSV and many other viruses. Please click here to visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s website for more information on RSV.

Masks Required at UCHealth: Masks continue to be required for all patients, visitors, staff and providers in clinical and public areas of UCHealth facilities, including those in Steamboat Springs, Hayden and Oak Creek. Masking remains one of the best ways to limit the spread of not only COVID-19, but also influenza and other respiratory viruses including RSV. With increasing numbers of influenza and RSV cases, it is important to limit transmission of these viruses and protect each other.

VETERANS DAY - NOVEMBER 11

Veterans Day is observed annually on November 11. It's a holiday honoring men and women who have served in the U.S. armed forces, on the anniversary of the end of World War I. Thank you for your service!

Did you know Routt County has a Veterans Service Office? Find all details about our Veterans Service Office here: https://www.co.routt.co.us/215/Veterans-Affairs

Fellow Veterans,

I am in the office three days a week and am here to help you deal with the VA, be it signing up for VA medical care (give me a call, most veterans are eligible), or to help file a disability claim or an appeal. We can also talk about your benefits and we take great pleasure in helping widows and other family members.

So give me a call and let's get to work.

Have a good day,
