Building Department Updates
Temporary Certificate of Occupancy or Occupancy Certificate Reminders: Contractors, we are nearing the winter season and snow could fall in the valley at any time. Take the time to ensure you have called for all partial Site Inspections, Driveway Inspections, or other related inspections done by our Public Works and Utility Divisions county-wide while the ground is still visible (if required). This helps to avoid denial of TCO approvals this winter. In addition, as we approach opening day for the ski area, we typically receive a high volume of final inspection and TCO requests. Follow the below recommended time-frames when seeking TCO/CO’s for your projects to avoid delays in receiving approvals from all reviewing departments.
  • You must schedule a final building inspection within CityView to start the TCO/CO Review Process for all reviewing departments.
  • Residential Projects: Allow seven working days after you schedule your final building inspection for all departments to complete their reviews and the Building Department to process and print your TCO. Special Note: If any reviewing department fails your TCO review, you will not receive a TCO within these seven working days. You will need to comply with any corrections by that reviewer and begin the seven working day review process again.
  • Commercial Projects: Allow seven working days after you schedule your final building inspection for all departments to complete their reviews and the Building Department to process and print your TCO. The Contractor is also responsible for meeting all conditions of any previously approved Planning Department Development Application Conditions for your project. If you fail to have these conditions completed prior to departments reviewing your TCO/CO they will fail your review which will cause you significant delays in receiving your TCO or CO for your project. Special Note: If any reviewing department fails your TCO review, you will not receive a TCO within these seven working days. You will need to comply with any corrections by that reviewer and begin the seven working day review process again.

Routt County Building Department September CY2022 Permit Reports are available online.

One Fun Thing
WINTER WEATHER PREPAREDNESS WEEK IN COLORADO

Winter Weather Preparedness Week in Colorado wraps up on October 23. This is an excellent time for all individuals, families, businesses, schools, and media outlets to review their winter storm preparedness plans. It is especially important for all new arrivals to the state to become familiar with the National Weather Service watch and warning definitions, as well as winter safety procedures.

Snow in Colorado is important to the farmers, the ski areas, and for filling up reservoirs. However, winter storms often bring heavy snow, bitter cold air, high winds, low visibilities and slick roads. This can lead to dangerous travel conditions and other life threatening situations such as avalanches and very frigid wind chill temperatures.

Find lots of Winter Safety information on the National Weather Service website.
