On October 25 at the Rowland Heights Community Center, more than 200 community and business leaders came together to learn more about the Rowland Unified School District at the Friends of Rowland Unified Schools (FORUS) State of the Schools Breakfast. Guests enjoyed watching students in action using the latest technology as student news teams from Alvarado Intermediate, Jellick Elementary and Ybarra Academy interviewed guests and a "Student Tech Crew" from Villacorta Elementary showed guests how they use green screens, iPads and how they program robots!

Rowland High School Chamber Singers and RUSD Chamber Orchestra performed at the event and student news crews interviewed guests.

25th Connections to the Future Event Nov. 19

Business and community leaders help high school students learn how to “network” and practice their presentation skills by attending the 25th Annual “Connections to the Future” luncheon event on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Rowland High School. This event is organized and facilitated by senior students from Nogales and Rowland High Schools who are enrolled in the District Career Certification Program that prepares them for college and the workforce with real-world experience in eight career industry pathways and interships.

The District is looking for internship sites for our high school students to gain experience, community and business leaders to be industry experts with our Career Technical Education Career programs, volunteers for our schools, sponsors for our events and so much more!

Noble Regiment to Perform in London New Year's Parade - Featured on KTLA Channel 5!

Nogales Noble Regiment Band students to perform at the 2020 London New Year's Day Parade (LNYDP). KTLA Channel 5 Morning News with reporter Gayle Anderson did a live remote yesterday morning with the band!

Nogales High School Noble Regiment Marching Band are one of four bands in California to be featured in this huge international parade for 2019-20. Band and color guard students from across the Rowland Unified School District will join the Noble Regiment to perform in this once-in-a lifetime experience!

First KinderFest a Huge Success!

Rowland Unified launched KinderFest this past weekend, a school-readiness event for families with preschool aged children (ages 3 to 5) at the District Office. The festive, fair-like atmosphere provided hands-on experiences of what school is like in RUSD with more than 25 teachers

(Transitional Kindergarten (TK) and Kindergarten) on hand to answer questions and provide school success tips.

Families could visit a TK/Kindergarten classroom with flexible seating and technology, squeal with delight as they boarded a school bus, took a tray and walked through a lunch line at the KinderFest Cafe and visit a variety of booths such as: Kiddie Coding (where kids could program bee-bots), hands-on science fun with partner California Science Center, story time in the Reading Garden, information booths on our Dual Language Immersion programs,Mommy and Me (RACE) programs, child safety ID print with Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and more! A big thank you to the many partners and staff from across the District who made this first-time event a huge success!
