Featured Artists:

In our Gallery: Photography by Anna Wilcox

I am a transgender woman living in the City of Witches (Salem). My photography focuses on landscapes, lonely places, and the beauty and wonder found in the mundane. I shoot in black and white 35 mm and hand develop all of my photographs. When not working on photography I am working at the library in Salem, or reading all the lgbt books I can get my hands on. You can find more of my work online at photuris-monocolor.tumblr.com. Prints available for sale upon request, email menotomyprof@gmail.com for details.

Would you like to share your art or collectibles with others?

We have been proud to show off so many local artists and collectors in the past! If you would be interested in displaying your work, hobby, or interest in the future, either on our walls or in our display case, please contact us.

Thank you to all the volunteers, donors, buyers and staff for a very successful spring book sale recently. We raised a little over $2,000 which is pretty awesome. All the money goes straight to programming again as always. Check out that beautiful, full calendar on the library website.

The friends have a fundraiser day coming up at Casey J's, our fabulous barbecue place on Railroad Ave on June 3rd. 10% of all proceeds go to the friends for programming.

Next Board Meeting: Elections!

The next Friends board meeting is Monday, June 2nd at 7:00pm (note: special day). We really need you! Come to get more information and participate. New officers for the coming year will be elected. If you are interested in joining the board, please email your intent or any questions to the current board at friendsboard@rowleylibrary.org or find a list of positions HERE.

Happy summer all from the friends, Andrea, Steve and Siegi

JUNE KIDS PROGRAMMING

June Passive Programming:

Each month in the Children's Room, you'll be able to participate in a themed scavenger hunt for a special bookmark and a guessing game to win a prize!

June's theme is all about BUGS! When you need a break from playing outside, stop by to check out our June Book Displays! This month, we explore LGBTQIA+ Pride Month, a display celebrating fathers, and a display of books about bugs!

Teens can stop by to check out a ‘Blind Date with a Pride Book’ display!

Kids Guessing Game: You may have noticed we have some bugs for you to search for, but we’re also trying to attract them with these sticky popsicle sticks! Could you tell us how many are in the jar so we can figure out how many bugs we can catch? 5 years & younger | 6 to 12 years. June 1st to June 30th.

iSpy Game: Speaking of bugs, do you think you could go on a bug hunt to locate all of the ones that have hidden around the Children’s Room? Bring your completed paper back to a librarian for a prize! One prize per month. June 1st to June 30th.

Teen Guessing Game: We ate a LOT of popsicles and dumped the sticks in here, and we’d really like to use them for a craft, but we can’t figure out how many are in here! Can you help? Prizes will be awarded to the two closest guesses. For tweens & teens ages 11 – 18, June 1st to June 30th.

JUNE TEEN PROGRAMMING

Not sure what to read? Let us help!
If you're a teen between the ages of 13 and 18 and you have trouble figuring out what to read next, the Youth Services Department has a solution for you!

The YA LitCrate is a mystery box filled with books and goodies for you to enjoy! All you have to do is fill out a form to let us know what you enjoy reading, and we'll give you a call when it's ready to pick up.

The books and box must be returned, but the gifts inside are yours to keep!

Interested in participating? Look at our website here for more information on how to get your LitCrate!
