Featured Artists:

Meet the artist:

Cecelia Searles is sharing her work in watercolor and pastel with us this month. Having loved nature and art since she was a child, she now finds herself with enough time to pursue their blending. The change of seasons reflected in the marshes, the forests, and the oceans, inspires her subject matter. Her goal is to evoke a shared sense of nature's ever-changing beauty and harmony through color and form.

Her art will be on display for the month of October and November.

In our Display Case:

Ever wonder what Great-aunt Edna's vase is really worth? Check out the Rowley Historical Society's display this month for some hints. Their annual Antiques Appraisal Night will be held on October 17 in the Meeting Room.

OCTOBER KIDS PROGRAMMING

October Passive Programming:

Each month in the Children's Room, you'll be able to participate in a themed scavenger hunt for a special bookmark and a guessing game to win a prize!

October's theme is all about HALLOWEEN! When you need a break from homework, stop by to check out our October Book Displays! This month, we explore Halloween with one display, and democracy with our other one!

Teens can stop by to check out displays on spooky works of fiction, and our Hispanic Heritage Month display on the spinning column by the windows.

Kids Guessing Game: We’re looking for a fresh perspective on these eyeballs that got left behind by a slimy monster that rolled through the Children’s Room. Can you help us count how many are in this jar?

5 years & younger | 6 to 12 years. October 1st to October 31st .

iSpy Game: Things are starting to get very spooky in here! Would you please take a sheet of paper and walk around the room with us to find all of the Halloween creatures & candy left behind? Bring a completed sheet back to a librarian for a prize! October 1st through October 31st.

Teen Guessing Game:

You can really sink your teeth into this guessing game – at least if you have fangs! Maybe you can do us a favor and get these teeth out of here before a vampire comes looking. Can you help? Prizes will be awarded to the two closest guesses. For tweens & teens ages 11 – 18, October 1st through October 31st..
