Roxbury Track & Field Team Needs Help Getting to Carolina Championship
The Roxbury High School track and field team has qualified to compete at the New Balance Championship in North Carolina but the athletes need help getting there.

In a request for donations, girls team captain Karly Forker said the event, in Greensboro, N.C. "is the highest level of competition for high school athletes, making it very difficult to qualify."

Roxbury qualified last year and sent 11 competitors to the meet, Forker said. She noted the highlight of the trip was the girls Sprint Medley Team finishing ninth in the country.

"That opportunity would not have been possible without the help of so many of you," Forker said. "Unfortunately, we need your help! Since schools are not allowed to pay for their athletes to compete in this meet because it is after the state sanctioned season, we need to raise money. Our booster club is able to help a little, however, our booster club is new and can only help so much."

Forker said the team has created a  Go Fund Me Page where contributors can see more information about the team and its accomplishments.

"This year, we have already qualified for the Girl's Sprint Medley, the Mixed 4x400 Meter Relay and the individual 400 Meter Dash," Forker said. "We are hopeful that we will be qualifying for more events in the next few weeks. We are reaching out to you, and other parts of the Roxbury community, to see if you are able to help. Donations are greatly appreciated and we hope you will consider helping up raise money. However, sharing this with people you know will also go a long way to help us reach our goal."

Joining Forker in the request for help were her teammates Jess Cammarata - Sprint Medley, Mixed 4x400; Bridget Doherty - Sprint Medley; Brandon Longtine - Mixed 4x400; Jordan Morris - Sprint Medley and Kevin Sembrat - Mixed 4x400, 400 Meter Dash.
