Rutgers baseball adjusting after MLB Draft
Even before the Major League Baseball Draft, Rutgers head baseball coach Joe Litterio had a plan for the future. But he didn't expect to lose both his catchers.

Centerfielder Jawuan Harris - who has one season of eligibility remaining for baseball and two for football - was the first Scarlet Knights player to be selected, going to San Diego in the seventh round. The 201st pick overall, Harris is the highest Rutgers player taken since Patrick Kivlehan went to Seattle in the fourth round in 2012.

Millburn senior Peter Serruto, the incoming Rutgers catcher, was picked by Cincinnati in the 22nd round. But then, current Scarlet Knights junior Nick Matera of Roxbury was selected in the 34th round. Click here to read more from the Daily Record. Click here to read more from NJ.com.

Roxbury's King House Museum Undergoing Major Renovations

People passing the King House Museum at 209 Main Street in Ledgewood might be wondering why some windows of the historic residence are covered in plywood.  It's OK.  The windows have been temporarily removed as part of a major exterior restoration taking place at the building, thanks largely to grant funding and support from Roxbury Township. Historic windows and doors are being restored. Gutters and roof eaves are being repaired. The porches are being refurbished. And when all that's done, the old house will be treated to an overall coat of paint.

St. Therese Carnival had their Highest Attendance to Date
Once again the 24th Annual St. Therese Carnival 2018 finished up this year's four-day event to deliver the regional best in Food, Games, Rides, Events, and other Community offerings that makes this a must-attend for family fun for the whole community in Northern Jersey.
According to Michael Calabrese, Carnival Committee Chairman of St. Therese. "This event continues to be a major fundraiser for the Parish with this year's funds helping to replace the Organ that is over 40 years old. The Organ upgrade would not be possible without the people that attend, our sponsors, Roxbury Fire & EMT and to the over 300 people that donated their time to help run this event."

Roxbury Beach Blast Carries On Without Sandy Blankets or Arts Alliance - June 15th
The Roxbury Arts Alliance will not be trying to collect money at Friday's 11 th Annual Roxbury Township Community Beach Blast, an event that used to be the non-profit group's biggest fundraiser.
In fact, the Alliance will not have any part of the party this time around.  Before last year, people who attended the Beach Blast had to pay a fee to get in, money that went to the Arts Alliance which usually took in about $6,000. The arts group used some of that money to award scholarships. Click here to read more from Tap Into Roxbury.

Clean Up at the Sixth Roxbury Town-Wide Garage Sale - June 23-24th
What better way to welcome the first weekend of summer than with a spring cleanup of the garage, basement or attic?  Summer arrives Thursday, June 21 and the Sixth Annual Town-Wide Garage Sale, a fundraiser for The  Roxbury Area Chamber of Commerce, will take place June 23 and June 24.

On those days, bargain hunters will roam the township with cash in hand hoping to find stuff they always wanted, never knew they wanted or don't really want but "what the heck, it's only $5." Given that there were more than 150 individual garage sales taking place at last year's event, chances are good that both sellers and buyers will find some level of satisfaction. Roxbury Urged to Thrill Vets with Lakeside Displays of Thank - June 30th
Roxbury people are being urged to show up in force along the shoreline of Lake Hopatcong on June 30 to wave, cheer and otherwise thank military veterans who will be passing by on the Third Annual  "Veterans Cruise."

For the first time, the Cruise will swing into Landing Channel at the southern tip of the lake, making the  recently named Landing Gateway Park on Lakeside Boulevard an ideal place for the patriotic to show their appreciation, said Roxbury resident Christine Houtz, who is helping to organize the event.

The veterans will be aboard the Miss Lotta, a vessel that offers cruises of Lake Hopatcong. Miss Lotta Captain Leon Moreau  recently took water depth measurements in the channel and determined it is deep enough for the craft.  Click here  to read more from Tap Into Roxbury.
