In the spirit of St. Patrick's Day, four of the seven schools in Roxbury Township participated in this year's St. Baldrick's Foundation head-shaving event at Lincoln/Roosevelt and Kennedy School on March 16th. Close to 100 students district-wide volunteered to have their heads shaved to show solidarity with those children battling pediatric cancers. Many of these students are repeat shavees.

Students also raised mon ey for the St. Baldrick's Foundation that assists families whose children are battling cancer.

This year's goal for Franklin and Lincoln/Roosevelt School was $2,000. More than $12,000 has been raised so far between these two schools as of Friday bringing their collection to more than $227,000 in the eight years they've been participating.

Jefferson and Kennedy's goal this year was $10,000 and as of the event yesterday afternoon, they had raised more than $11,000, bringing their total collection to more than $42,000 in just three years.

Robots Duel with Mount Olive Students at the Helm

More than 40 students on the high school's robotics team, "Roxbotix", met their peers from 36 surrounding and distant schools to compete in a game called "Steamworks."  It was contested at Mount Olive High School Saturday and Sunday, and attracted thousands of robotics team members from all over New Jersey, some from New York and some from Connecticut.

It was one of this season's first,  F.I.R.S.T.  robotics competitions. F.I.R.S.T. stands for "For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology."  In the end, after two days of student-made robots picking up gears and placing them on pegs to spin rotors, Roxbotix, comprised of just over 40 students, made it to the quarter finals.

Roxbury Family Gets Renovation of Their Dreams
A Succasunna family of five received a major home renovation this week that made their living space more handicap-accessible, courtesy of an NBC show and plenty of help from their hometown.

Prayforlevi.org lists several ways for people to donate and participate in the cause.

The Spencer episode of "George to the Rescue" will air at April 15 at 9:30 a.m. on NBC 4.

Hip Hop Dance After School

Hip Hop is an eclectic street style of dance that is performed in running shoes to current upbeat tempos. The dynamic moves taught in Hip Hop class are fast, stylish, funky and similar to those seen in music videos.

This class is appropriate for high energy dancers that are driven by a beat. Similar to a Jazz class, Hip Hop is broken down into 3 parts - warm up, corner work/technique and choreography. Students in a Hip Hop class will work on their strength, flexibility, and musicality through intricate fun and fast paced funky choreography.

Since the tempos are usually quicker than any other dance form, the choreography in a Hip Hop class provides a great cardio workout and is also a fun way to exercise the mind and memory.

(Children should wear comfortable clothes and sneakers to class)

Date:   Throughout the 2016/2017 School Year
Time: After-School at the Designated School
Location: Franklin and Jefferson Elementary Schools
