Self-Care and Mindfulness on Inservice Day Agenda
Students in the Roxbury Township Public Schools may have had the day off on Monday, October 9th but for the Roxbury staff, the learning never stopped. District educators spent Monday working through a jammed packed agenda that included the influence of professional collaboration, self-care and mindfulness, review of K-5 standards-based report cards, and subject-specific training for staff in grades 6-12.

A highlight of the day was a yoga portion geared toward self-care and mindfulness. The staff gathered in the gymnasium at Roxbury High School and at over 100 of them had their comfy clothes and yoga mats all ready to go on the gym floor to participate in the hands-on program presented by The School Yoga Project while others participated in exercises from the bleachers while taking notes.  Click here to read more about this self-care and mindfulness initiative.

RHS Football and Cheerleading Updates
Football Game Recap: Roxbury vs. Morris Knolls
In their previous meeting,  Roxbury delivered  Morris Knolls a punishing 42 - 14 defeat. Roxbury got the short end of the stick this time around, however. Roxbury was close but not close enough as it fell 10 - 7 to Morris Knolls. The outcome was a definite jolt of excitement for Roxbury after its previous game, where the margin was anything but close.  Roxbury's record fell to 2-3 after the loss. The win got Morris Knolls up to 3-2. Click here for more game recap from MaxPreps.com

Football Game Preview: Sparta vs. Roxbury
Sparta (5-0) takes on  Roxbury (2-3) this Saturday at 1:00 PM. Sparta has been tearing up the endzone with big points in its last five contests.  Sparta can now show off five landslide victories after its game last week. It had all the answers against West Milford last week, winning 44 - 14. The margin wasn't a surprise since Sparta is ranked many positions ahead of West Milford in the state.

As for Roxbury, its encounter with West Morris Mendham two weeks ago was a 28-point stomp, but the result last week was anything but. Roxbury was close but not close enough last game as it fell 10 - 7 to Morris Knolls. Senior Mike Christiansen didn't go down without a fight, though. He put up some defensive resistance with 14 tackles.

The last time they met, Sparta really took it to Roxbury, winning 42 - 0. Sparta had a lot of yards that game (509) and will likely be setting its aim high again. Can it repeat its success? We'll find out this Saturday. Click here to for more game preview from MaxPreps.com.
