Today is an exciting day as we welcome more students back onto campus. We’ve been waiting for this day and it is finally here! YAY! As we led tours prior to spring break and earlier this week, it was evident how excited students were to be back. Some did admit it would take adjusting to sit on the hardened school chairs, as opposed to their cozy couches or beds. They also mentioned they would miss being able to get snacks from their refrigerators at home, at will. Nonetheless, they were eager to be closer to their teachers and have immediate access to teacher support. They were also excited to interact with friends in their assigned playground zones.

For your reference, I am including the Spring Bell Schedule and the Middle School Bell Schedule including afternoon PE and office hours. Wednesdays will remain asynchronous learning days and students are expected to sign in, as they have been doing since August. They will continue to attend the assemblies and participate in enrichment classes such as STEAM, garden, and library, as well as reading intervention with Ms. Lawlor. We have adjusted Mr. Worthington’s schedule allowing him to be on campus with students and engaging with them in their recess zones during in-person learning days (M,T,Th,F). On Wednesdays, PE for grades K-5 will now consist of prepared videos and Mr. Worthington will continue to support middle school students in the same manner as he has throughout the year, during the 2:00-3:00 hour.
As we continue to move forward, I wanted to share some recent updates from our San Mateo County Office of Education. As administrators review these updates with RCSD directors and Dr. Baker, I will continue to keep you informed of how they may impact our days as we progress through the school year.
Thank you for your continued support as we work collaboratively to bring our students back to school!
Diane

Last Chance to Order Class of 2021 Sweatshirts!
|
|
Attention 8th grade families! Sweatshirts for the 8th grade graduating class is a longstanding tradition at Roy Cloud. This year's Graduation Committee recently surveyed students and there is still interest for a class sweatshirt. If you would like a sweatshirt, please place your Custom Ink order by April 10th.
Sweatshirts will be delivered your student's homeroom or arrangements for pickup can be made for distance learners. The cost of sweatshirts is based on a 20 order minimum. If we don’t have the minimum order, all orders will be canceled. Please email Joan Perez with questions.

SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL
Walk to School on Earth Day, April 22nd!
|
|
Earth Day is Thursday, April 22nd. Every year, we celebrate our wonderful planet in a special Earth day walk to school. For the first time, we and San Mateo County Safe Routes to School are joined by RecycleWorks of San Mateo County in celebrating Earth Day by encouraging everyone to pick up litter you find along your route to school. Let us know how far you walked and how many pieces of litter you picked up and win a prize! Haven't walked to school before? Join us on Earth Day to see how much fun it is and how much better you feel when you get to school. And from then on, walk as often as you can!

Cloudy with a Chance of Kindness

Our students came up with the very creative name of "Cloudy with a Chance of Kindness" as the new name for Roy Cloud's Kindness Club and students are doing a poster contest! This club is welcome to all students with the goal of spreading kindness to the entire school and the community. Please note that we are now meeting at 3 PM on Wednesdays.
