Wolf Ridge Adventures
Our 6th graders are back from their week long trip to Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center. Students enjoyed many outdoor learning adventures including night hikes, cross country skiing, rock climbing, outdoor survival skills and so much more.

This trip has been a Royal Tradition for more than 30 years and several of our parent chaperones enjoyed the same experience when they were in 6th grade!
Gratitude is Healthy
Students in our Kids' Company child care program are learning all about gratitude this month! They are participating in a virtual program sponsored by the Mayo Clinic that promotes well-being through gratitude.

Kids' Company students and staff are building a gratitude board to share what they are thankful for and to show gratitude for acts of kindness. #RoyalPride
WMES I Love To Read Month
I Love to Read Month is in full swing at WMES! Our 2019 ILtRM featured author is Betty Birney! Students are enjoying the adventures of Humphrey the hamster in her book series 'According to Humphrey.'

Activities throughout the month include Winter Fun Day, NHS Read-Aloud Day, a short story contest and a talent show. There's even a real hamster cruising through the building. He'll find a home in the lucky classroom that "wins" him at the end of the month!

Profile of a Graduate
Begin with the end in mind...that's the goal of our recent process to build a Portrait of a Watertown-Mayer Graduate. District leaders spoke to staff, students, parents and community members to assemble a list of characteristics we aspire to instill in every student before graduation.

These locally-generated standards will guide district decisions in all areas including curriculum, instruction, hiring and more.
Preschool Helpers
Some of our WMHS students became preschool teachers recently! High school students in the early childhood class created and taught lessons for their preschool friends and siblings. #handsonlearning

Mystery Pic Reveal
Last month we asked you to identify which classroom these students are in and which song they are singing?

The students are shaking their red and blue poms as they sing the school song in Mrs. Windsperger's elementary school classroom.

Congrats to Isabella Hilgers, Sheryl Heidorn and Kendyl Olson who were the first people to email the correct answer!
