Middle School News
"No work is insignificant. All labor that uplifts humanity has dignity and importance and should be undertaken with painstaking excellence." Matin Luther King, Jr.
Dear Middle School Families,

I couldn't be prouder of our MS students & faculty! The expectations for mask wearing, social distancing, & hand washing have been met and exceeded.

As a faculty, we want to thank all our families, but especially our off-campus families, for their patience and understanding as we navigate the complexities of teaching students both in our classrooms and off-campus simultaneously.

Please know, we realize that we have room for improvement in this area, and we are solidly focused on leveraging our collective teaching expertise and ever-expanding technological prowess as we communicate and collaborate with our families to find solutions to the myriad of challenges we face.

At the end of last week, I began reaching out to families to request feedback on their MS experience, primarily from our off-campus families, but also from the families of our students on campus. I would like to continue that process this coming week.

If you are willing to provide feedback and suggestions to help us improve, I'd like to schedule calls on Tuesday, September 8 from 10 am to noon & Thursday, September 10 from 9:30 am to noon. Please send me an email at afloro@roycemoreschool.org to schedule our chat. Working together in a shared focus on our children, all things are possible.

Much peace & joy to you and yours on this lovely holiday weekend!

A. Floro

Homework Club & Zone

Middle School students in grades 5-8 have their own after-school program called The Zone.  All MS students must be in a supervised, designated space by 3:45 pm each day (except Tuesdays & Thursdays, when the time is 2:15 pm).

The Zone is located in the gym foyer and is available as an offering for 5th-8th grade students who are not involved in an after-school activity, club, or sport. There is a separate fee associated with the Zone. It is $5 per day or if the family signs up for the year it is $875. Drop-in cost is $5/day and charges are billed once a month. 8th graders are not billed for The Zone, but are bound by The Zone guidelines.

Students remaining on school premises after 3:45 pm must be in one of the programs offered until a parent/ guardian arrives to pick up at the gymnasium door. Any student remaining at the end of Homework Club at 4:20 pm will be sent directly to the Zone where they are expected to stay unless they have permission of The Zone supervisor to leave. The Zone shuts down at 6:00 pm. Should a student remain after that time, a fee of $1.00 per minute will be charged. Reminder: No Middle School student is allowed to be on school premises after school hours without direct supervision.
