COVID is the challenge of our generation. And there will be future ones that will test our students as they enter adulthood. We intend for them to be ready for whatever comes their way-- to approach the world with strong foundational knowledge, powerful 21st century skills, and the confidence to put that knowledge and those skills to work.

The goal? to create a world that is innovative and exciting, while embracing diversity, inclusivity and social justice.

Thank you for your partnership in the education of your children.

Here’s to an exciting, enriching, safe and healthy year for us all!

Don't Forget: Download the SWS App Today
We are very excited to share the news that we will be utilizing the School Wellness Screener (SWS) app this school year to confirm each student, teacher, staff member, and visitor completes a daily health attestation check before coming on campus. We started using this app during our summer camp programming and found it a very useful step in our efforts to keep our community healthy. Best of all, the app was developed by our very own Roycemore Senior, Ephraim Zimmerman, who now has 20+ schools across the country contracted to use the SWS app. Well done Ephraim!

To download and begin using the SWS app, please follow these steps:
(1) download the app here. The link will automatically direct you to the correct app store for your operating system (iOS or Android)
(2) enter our school-ID as: roycemoreschool-1812
(3) complete the login

All Upper School students should sign up for themselves and not get signed up through their parents.

NOTE: If you're a parent or faculty member with children, please add all of your children to your account before completing registration.

Supply Lists
All supply lists for each division have been updated and are on the Parent Resource Page. Please check out the applicable lists for your child(ren) and order materials soon.
Three Cheers
Roycemore 12th Grader, Katie, was named a College Prep Scholar this summer through the QuestBridge Scholars program. This means that she has been identified as an underrepresented student with exceptional academic promise. We are thrilled for Katie and wish her the best of luck as she continues her progress through the QuestBridge Scholar Program.
Rising Senior, Amrina, wrote a piece this summer that was published in The Albilad English Daily, an international publication. She has a very unique perspective and was brave in sharing her dreams with the world regarding global peace, respect, and equality for all. Read her published piece here.
Upper School Student President, Ephraim, has had a busy summer. He was recently interviewed by "Evanston Now" regarding the new School Wellness Screening App that he created for Roycemore and fellow schools to use this school year to track student health screenings. He now has around 25 clients across the country signed up to use his technology with more still knocking on his door. Read the full story here.
Introducing Two More New Faculty Members!
We have two more faculty members who are joining our Roycemore team this school year. Please give them a warm welcome and keep an eye out for their bio's coming to the website soon.

Aimee Michel
Early Childhood Creative Movement Teacher
Chicago School of Musical Arts
While Roycemore School students may not be able to participate in some of the music offerings on campus like they did last year due to COVID-19, The Chicago School of Musical Arts is offering virtual music classes including:

Voice: Rock, Pop, and Musical Theater
Rock/Blues Guitar
Piano/ Keyboard

Safe, virtual weekly group classes are available for PreK-8 for the fall session (September 8 – November 6). CSMA brings expert artist-teachers, small class sizes, and assignments that will keep students engaged throughout the entire week. CSMA nurtures the whole musician. Available instruments include violin, piano, ukulele, guitar, voice, clarinet, flute, saxophone, and low brass (trombone, baritone, and tuba).
In the Spring the 4th grade class learned about building community. Using the book Seedfolks by Paul Fleishmann as a starting point, they researched and designed a plan for their own garden. When the school shifted to a remote learning platform in March, the students elected to keep their garden dreams alive. Faculty member, Mrs. Skinner, delivered seeds and dirt to the students who planted and tended to their seedlings at home. In May, they donned their masks and worked to transfer all their crops back to campus to fill their community garden. Rising Middle School student, Alexandra, took the lead with weekly visits to weed and water. Collectively, they were able to grow squash, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, green beans, sweet peppers, and even pumpkins! Great work Alexandra and the entire community of 4th Graders.
School Video - Full Length Version
Many of you got to see our new School Video released last year highlighting students talking about what it feels like to attend Roycemore. We now have a longer version of that same video that goes into more depth about all that Roycemore offers. We know this school year will be different than all other years but these messages about how supportive and encouraging our school community is serve as a great reminder that there is nowhere else quite like Roycemore. Please enjoy and go griffins!
