Roycemore School Weekly Newsletter

Leadership

Mock Admissions Event
On Wednesday, September 25th, Roycemore Seniors are invited to attend an after-school Mock Admissions Workshop with Carol Lin Murphy, Associate Director of Admissions at University of Chicago. They will spend an hour as would-be admissions officers, reading past applications, and determining which applications demonstrate best mutual fit between student and University of Chicago.
( Note: this event is for Senior students .)

Workshops
Many Upper School families attended one or two of the recent workshops held earlier this month: Thriving in College and Paying For College . Both were insightful presentations with lots of resources being shared and very helpful discussions taking place. Outlines from each presentation can be accessed below for those who were not able to attend:

Timeline
A suggested timeline for all Upper School Griffins has been created. It starts in the 9th Grade and continues through all 4 years of High School with Junior and Senior years being the most detailed. We encourage all US parents to take a look at this timeline and talk with their children about what they want their College Search to look like.

About 40 colleges are already scheduled to visit Roycemore this fall with a variety of sizes and selectivities being represented including Drexel University, Oberlin College, and University of Chicago. International School visits include University of Aberdeen, Durham University and American University in Paris.

MS Camp Henry Horner
Middle School students had an amazing visit to Camp Henry Horner last week. They were able to participate in community building opportunities and work on their leadership skills. The students got to spend time on the water, zip line, and rock climb all while working together in a setting totally different than their regular on-campus interactions.
