Rule 14-1 - Using Club other than Putter on Putting Green?

QUESTION:
Is it permissible to use a club other than a putter to play a stroke on the putting green? Can I use a wedge?
ANSWER:
Yes, the Rules of Golf do not stipulate the type of club that must be used for making a stroke on the putting green or anyplace else on the golf course.
In the photo above, the 16th hole at the Valero Texas Open, there could be a few situations where a player may have to use a wedge in order to get the ball over, around or through the bunker to access the hole location.

Reminder, it is within a players right to use a different club, other than a putter on the putting green, however, the Superintendent and Grounds Crew may watch you closely. Positive thoughts and best of luck getting onto the proper level and don't forget to replace your divot if you take one.
