The
11th Annual Nitto Tire NMRA/NMCA Super Bowl of Street Legal Drag Racing has arrived. The largest race of its kind in the country showcases the
World’s Fastest Street Cars and the
World’s Fastest Fords racing together at Route 66 Raceway in Joliet, Ill.
Twenty two championship points classes from both the NMRA Keystone Automotive Ford Nationals series and the NMCA Muscle Car Nationals presented by E3 Spark Plugs will be featured during the event which kicks into high gear when the gates open for spectators on Friday, July 29. This is the ONLY event where the NMRA competes against the NMCA for the ultimate bragging rights when it concludes with the legendary “Super Bowl” portion of the event on Sunday afternoon. Class winners from both organizations race against each other in the hopes of winning a coveted
Nitto Tire Diamond Tree Ring.
From the wild 3-second big-tire cars of VP Racing Fuels Xtreme Pro Mods, to the crazy antics of the radial-shoed rides in Mickey Thompson Radial Wars, Street Outlaws, Renegade, Xtreme Street and more, there will be racing action all day and into the night as the biggest street legal drag racing event of the year unfolds at Route 66 Raceway. Meet Street Outlaws' Daddy Dave & BoostedGT on the Weekend of the NMRA/
NMCA
Super Bowl Event

Joining the NMRA and NMCA in Joliet this year will be “Daddy Dave” Comstock and Chris “BoostedGT” Hamilton from the hit reality TV show “Street Outlaws” on the Discovery Channel. Get a picture with Daddy Dave in front of “Goliath 2.0,” his nitrous-gulping ’63 Chevy Nova. Or, if you’re a fan of the Blue Oval, get a picture with BoostedGT, in front of his bright yellow turbocharged ’03 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra. Both racers will be on hand all day Saturday, July 30 from 10am until 6pm. Daddy Dave will also be hanging around on Sunday from 10am to 3pm.
On Saturday, after making some test hits, BoostedGT is looking to finish what was started at KOTS, one of the original No Prep races held at Great Lakes Dragaway earlier this year. He called out “The Grinch” and the two racers agreed to settle the score at Route 66 Raceway on Saturday, July 30 during the NMRA/NMCA Super Bowl event.
“The Grinch and I have had some great battles at KOTS over the years and we are looking to settle a grudge from the race earlier this year since we didn’t get to line-up,” remarked BoostedGT during a conversation with NMRA/NMCA race officials. BoostedGT won their first grudge race last year but the two parties failed to get it organized at the event back in June. Stay tuned to the NMRA and NMCA Facebook pages as grudge match-ups are brewing for Daddy Dave as well.
If door car drag racing is in your blood, this event is one event you must add to your bucket list. It’s the race where racers and fans alike agree to be among the “must go” list on any hardcore fans wish list. You can check it off this year by coming to Joliet on July 29-31.

FRIDAY: Gates open at 8am with first qualifying session starting at 10am. Gates close at 9pm. SATURDAY & SUNDAY: Gates open at 8am (with chapel service on Sunday) and cars start running down the track at about 8:30am.
