A Fall Celebration at Carlson Farms

The annual Carlson Farms- Farm to Table event is filling up fast! Norm and Karen Carlson will host more than 500 people at their farm on Sunday, October 13. This annual event features delicious appetizers and courses prepared by local chefs in a scenic farm setting. Funds raised at the event support programs, services and technology at Bronson Children's Hospital.

We are grateful to Norm and Karen (pictured) as well as sponsors and friends who make this such a wonderful event.

On Your Mark, Get Set... Go for Children's Health!

Bronson Children's Hospital Run & Walk, presented by Mall City Mechanical, is coming up this Sunday, September 29!

Shannon and Larry Bell (and Tess!)

Run Walk Registration and Information Here!

This year's honorary starters will be Shannon and Larry Bell. The Bells lend their support to many organizations in the community and have a particular calling to Bronson Children’s Hospital.

They recognize the importance and impact of having a children’s hospital close to home for children facing a medical crisis or long-term illness. Shannon has also brought a lot of joy as a very special volunteer at the children's hospital during the holiday season.

We have great momentum heading into the weekend event, with more than 2,030 already registered.

As the numbers increase, t-shirt size selection becomes more limited, so register soon.

Packet pick-up starts Friday, September 27.

Last month we told you about Olympian Heath Baldwin, who was going to be a special guest at the Run & Walk. Since that time, Heath received an invitation to the White House with Team USA, and it happens to also be this weekend. Heath regrets that he won't be able to join us but sends his support and well wishes to patients and families!

Cancer Survivor Celebrations

Each year, cancer survivors in Battle Creek and Kalamazoo gather for celebration events at Bronson's Cancer Centers. No matter where patients are on their cancer journey - whether recently diagnosed, undergoing treatment, in remission or finally living cancer free - this is an opportunity for current and former patients to gather for a little fun and pampering.

It is a celebration of strength and hope, and Bronson Health Foundation is grateful to the donors who generously give to fund these events.

Supporting Early Detection of Prostate Cancer

Jim Gunderson

Dr. John Thomas Wei

Jim Gunderson was an entrepreneur and business leader who served on the Bronson Healthcare board of directors for 25 years, including 5 years as chairman. He battled prostate cancer for nine years before his death in 2021.

Through generous donations to Bronson Health Foundation in Jim's memory, guest speaker Dr. John Thomas Wei, who is a urologist and prostate cancer expert, will present a free program on prostate cancer and advances in screening and early detection. The program is open to community members and medical providers alike.

“The more Jim could help people the happier he was,” says Jim's wife, Sally. “His biggest hope was to fund early detection of prostate cancer so more lives can be saved.”

The event will take place on Thursday, October 10 from 5:30-7 p.m. at Bronson's Gilmore Center for Health Education, located at 7 Healthcare Plaza in Kalamazoo.
