Run Wild Missoula Executive Director: A Magical Time
June is such a great time to be a runner or walker. It’s made even better by the amazing area in which we get to live, work, and play.
After the long winter, we finally have lots and lots and lots of daylight.  You can run without a headlamp before or after work.  We have nice, cool mornings with just about perfect temperatures. The afternoons and evenings are warm without being oppressively hot.
The trees are fully leafed-out and the grasses on the hillsides are still green.  If you head up into the mountains a bit, you might still find wildflowers in bloom.  In fact, if you head high enough, you can still run on snow covered trails.
Rains early in the month typically keep the fire season at bay; and, we don’t have to contend with smoke-filled skies.  All things combined, conditions in June are “oh so fine” to be running and walking in the great outdoors.  It’s definitely not treadmill season!!!!
It’s just such a great time to be out and exploring all of the great places to recreate in and around Missoula.  Be sure to run along the Milwaukee Trail and into the Kim Williams natural area and witness the amazing power of the river. Head up the main corridor of the Rattlesnake recreation area and you might see newborn wildlife.  Take the time to wander along our backyard mountains – Jumbo & Sentinel – and enjoy the amazing valley views.  Check out the new Barmeyer Trail on the South Hills Spur (Pattee Canyon side of Mount Dean Stone) and the Inez Creek Trail on the south side of Mount Dean Stone.  Maybe even consider a stroll around the new Fort Missoula Regional Park and take in the excitement of the soccer, rugby, and lacrosse games.
Don’t miss out on this magical time of year. Be sure to get out and fully enjoy all the sights, sounds, and wonders that Missoula has to offer.  While you’re doing that, be sure to look for me out on Missoula’s roads, tracks and trails.

Global Running Day is a day for people around the world to celebrate the joys of running. Participation is easy—just pledge to take part in some type of running activity on June 6, 2018 . It can be a solo lap around the block, a long run with friends, or even a game of tag with your kids. The key is to share your passion for the sport and inspire others to get moving.

Last year, more than 2.5 million people from 177 countries, including nearly 700,000 kids, pledged to run 9.2 million miles on Global Running Day. The day received more than one billion impressions on social media, with running activities taking place across the globe from New Zealand to New York.

While working the information booth, volunteers will be responsible for answering questions about Missoula, giving directions to local business/attractions and distributing Missoula materials such as Visitor's Guides and making suggestions on best places to dine, shop, etc. Volunteers should have a passion for Missoula and be willing to talk to visitors for a couple hours

Never worked an information booth before? No sweat! Do you love Missoula? Perfect. That's all you need to know. New volunteers will receive a brief visitor information training prior to your shift, so they've got you covered.
Last Wednesday Beer Run: June 27th
Last Wednesday Beer Run: June 27th 6:00 PM

Our June beer run will start and end at Draught Works , 915 Toole Ave. Draught Works has some of the best beer selections in Missoula and a sun drenched outdoor deck to sip it on. And we'll try to make sure there is a food truck there that night to satisfy your post-run munchies.

A 3 and 5 mile course will be offered. As outlined in our " Rules of the Run ," for safety reasons, we ask that dogs are not present during the Beer Run. Our beer runs are open to everyone - Run Wild Missoula membership is not required.

"5 Miles to Beer Thirty" - The monthly beer run is a casual fun run/walk open to all runners and all abilities. Each month a 3 and 5 mile route is offered at a different brewery location on the last Wednesday of the month, and at the end is a social gathering with libations and food. What could be a better way to end the month?
