Run Wild Missoula Executive Director:
|
We had the opportunity to celebrate Run Wild Missoula on September 18th at our Annual Meeting of Members. We were able to recognize some of our members (see member spotlight below) and our amazing volunteers. To learn a bit more about your club, click
HERE to review our Fiscal Year 2019 Summary Report.
I would like to take a moment to note a few highlights that we discussed at the meeting.
- With over 11,300 race finishers and 450 class participants, we provided an opportunity for almost 12,000 people who played with the purpose of improving their heath, fitness and quality of life
- We were able to donate over $50,000 to local organizations who are all working to improve the community where we live, work and play
- We were also able to announce that we'll be able to provide some additional benefits to our members and running community.
- For all races (except the $5 Resolution Run), the member discount will be increased to $3 (up from $2) (and a $5 discount for the Missoula Marathon & Half Marathon)
- The fee for the Missoula Marathon Training Class will be reduced to $75 (from $100)
- To help families with younger kids, we'll provide a reduced fee for runners 14 & Under at the following races:
- $15 to Diva Day, Turkey Day 8K and Run For The Luck Of It 5K
- $20 to Pengelly Single Dip and Missoula 5K
- Free Entry to Pumpkin Run 400 Meters
- Don't forget that we already have low and family friendly fees at the following runs:
- Free entry to Turkey Day 3K, Run For the Luck of It 400 Meters, Run For The Trees 5K and 10K (10 & Under) and Run For The Trees 1-Mile
- Low fees to Resolution Run ($5), Missoula Kids Marathon ($10), Pumpkin Run ($15 for members) and HeartThrob ($15 for members)
I'd also like to once again recognize our amazing staff. Long time Bookkeeper Dara Rouse does a great job in keeping us on track with our finances. We've recently hired Elizabeth Wasserman as our Program Coordinator; and, in just a few short weeks she's already making noticeable contributions. And, based on the great work that she does for the club, I'm pleased to announce that Ashley Cossairt has been promoted to Director of Operations. This crew goes to great lengths to provide resources and opportunities for all the runners and walkers in Missoula.
All in all, it was a great year at Run Wild Missoula; and, we're looking forward to an even better 2020. As we run, walk and run-walk-run into the new year, look for me out on the roads, tracks and trails.
Tony

Board Of Directors Opening
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Run Wild Missoula is governed by a Board of Directors. (To see our current board, click
HERE.) Suzanne Elfstrom (president), Steve Brown and Bob Homer are coming to the end of their second three-year term. While their leadership has been outstanding and we'd love to have them continue, under our bylaws they must step away after six years of service to the board.
Because of these departures, we'll open up applications for the newly created vacancies. Keep your eyes open via member emails, social media and our website with more information about how to apply. This is a great opportunity for you to serve the Missoula running community and help us to meet our mission of "Promoting and supporting running and walking for people of all ages and abilities".

Get In Shape using the Run-Walk-Run™ method
|
Run-Walk-Run
®
is an approach to running pioneered by Olympian Jeff Galloway. The method alternates gentle running with frequent walk breaks.
The Run-Walk-Run
®
approach presents a low risk of overuse injury. It is an excellent method for new runners starting at any fitness level. Experienced runners coming back from injury, illness, surgery, childbirth, etc. can also benefit from the program.
Training programs designed by Jeff Galloway emphasize a supportive community. Dedicated pace group leaders offer personal coaching and facilitate bonding among pace-mates. No one is left behind, no matter how slowly they are moving on a given day.
This class will meet for 60-90 minutes on Sundays beginning
Sunday, October 6th at 8:00 AM
. Informal 30-minute group runs will be on
Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:00 PM
.
