NEW IBERIA, La. -- The Jungle Gardens at Avery Island will host the 3rd annual Jungle Gardens 5K, 7KTrail Run, Stroll, and 1 Mile Fun Run to be held Nov. 5, 2016.
The day will begin at 8 a.m. with a full schedule of events. The race will be immediately followed by food, entertainment, many door prizes and awards. All entrants will have a full day pass to explore the gardens and enjoy the area. The race will include a new 4.5 mile trail run, as well as a beautiful stroll for those who would just like to walk the course and enjoy the scenery.
The event is sponsored by Fire & Safety Specialists and organized by Team FSS Running for a Cure. They are donating all proceeds to St. Jude Children's Hospital and are expecting a large field of runners and walkers. The course will be unique to other races in the area and will feature hills that no other area race can match. The course layout will make for a tough and rewarding run, excellent for advanced as well as novice runners. The scenic beauty will only add to the great experience of the day.
About St. Jude Children's Research Hospital:
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. has worked for many years to cure children's cancer and other terminal diseases. They openly share breakthrough research information with other health care providers so that these diseases may one day be eradicated. No family who is treated at St. Jude Hospital ever pays for anything including, treatment, lodging, or transportation to and from the hospital. All patient costs are covered through private donations from individuals and organizations.
About Team FSS Running for a Cure:
Team FSS Running for a Cure was organized in 2012 to provide fundraising for St. Jude Children's Hospital. The group organizes fundraising events throughout the year and participates in the St. Jude Memphis Marathon Weekend each December.
