Message from State Rep. Marcus C. Evans, Jr.
|
,
I hope you enjoyed your summer season and had a safe and wonderful vacation. As the month of August ends, children
will be returning back to school soon while some have already returned. Our Illinois educators are back to work, block club parties are wrapping up and veto session is around the corner for the General Assembly.
This summer, 'Runnin' with the Rep.' toured the 33rd district and surrounding areas; including a farm tour downstate and multiple transportation tours throughout the State of Illinois.
Additionally, several of my bills have been signed into law by the Governor this month: HB 5056, SB 3241, SB 3291, HB 2984 and SB 3023. These bills have been pushed in the General Assembly and has passed successfully in both the House and Senate. As your Representative,
I will continue to work and push for effective legislation.
In a effort to stay connected with the constituents of my district, I share this monthly e-newsletter and provide episodes from my 'Runnin' with the Rep.'web series.
I encourage you to share this e-newsletter with your loved ones and utilize the free resources & services available. I am pleased
to serve the 33rd District with great pride and appreciation and
look forward to advocating on your behalf.
Thank You!
All the Best,
Marcus C. Evans, Jr.
State Representative, 33rd District

100th
General Assembly Illinois House of Representatives
Committee Chairman
Transportation: Regulation, Roads & Bridges
For the 100th General Assembly in the Illinois House of Representative, Rep. Evans is serving as the Chairman of the Transportation: Regulation, Roads & Bridges Committee. It is a fact that Illinois is one of the nations top states for transportation, whether it be freight rail, commuter rail, aviation, roads or bridges.
Recently, Rep. Evans joined some of his colleagues
and the
Transportation for Illinois Coalition
friends in Central Illinois to examine the condition of our roads and hear from our labor and business partners.
Rep. Evans stated,
"It's clear that we need to prioritize sustainable transportation maintenance funding and true transportation growth in the State of Illinois. I will continue to push for that because we need the jobs, the overall economic activity up and down the supply chain and safe
roads for Illinois families to travel."
Within the Illinois House Transportation Committee Rep. Evans chairs subcommittees that work on specific areas of transportation policy. Those subcommittees are as follows: Future Roads: Growth & Improvement, Motor Fuel Analysis, Highways & Transit, Railroads, Ports & Aviation.
Rep. Evans passion for Illinois transportation sustainability and growth is also expressed outside of the walls of the Springfield capitol. He has active membership in the National Conference of State Legislators (NCSL) where he serves on the Natural Resources and Infrastructure Standing Committee and the Task Force on State and Local Taxation.
