Kaitie Evers is the Center's new Stormwater and Watershed Training Coordinator.
How did you get started working on watersheds?
I grew up spending every moment I could running around the woods in my back yard, exploring the creeks, and digging in gardens. As I got older, I realized that this was not a widely shared experience and not everyone has an innate love for the outdoors. Since then, I’ve crafted my career around sharing my love for the environment and helping others understand the importance of protecting these spaces.
What is your favorite part about working for the Center?
My favorite part about working for the Center for Watershed Protection, is that I get to continue this mission with incredible colleagues and impact.
At which store would you like to max-out your credit card?
Weirdly, a botanical garden’s gift shop – new exotic baby potted plants to add to my collection, adorable plant and butterfly motifs on everything you can imagine, and they always have interesting books. Yes, please.

Survivor! I also love/d all the wildlife shows too like the Crocodile Hunter, Man Vs. Wild and Zaboomafu. Rest in peace Steve Irwin.

Beethoven, with the big St. Bernard making a ruckus. It’s basically my life with two Great Pyrenees, and I wouldn’t change a thing.
Which sea creature is your favorite?
Sea turtles.
What is the nerdiest thing you do in your spare time?
in the warm months, I hunt for standing pools of water to collect mosquito larvae so I can feed my betta fish, Alfredo, live snacks. (I also dump said water breeding grounds after I collect a few fish nibbles.)
If you could have any one superpower, which would you choose?
I would slow down time to create more hours in a day.
If you won the lottery, what would be the first thing you would buy?
A world trip to catch and eat the freshest salmon from every region.
What do you want to make sure you do before you die?
Start a local guinea pig rescue.
