Project Update: Watershed Implementation Planning Leads to Stream Improvements in Berks County, Pennsylvania

The Over the past four years, the Center for Watershed Protection (CWP) collaborated with the Berks County Conservation District to develop a Watershed Implementation Plan for the Upper Little Swatara Creek watershed. This watershed is nestled in the northwestern corner of Berks County, Pennsylvania and drains approximately 60 square miles of predominantly agricultural land (Figure 1). Upper Little Swatara Creek has two main tributaries—Little Swatara Creek and Crosskill Creek—and flows southwest to Susquehanna River near the City of Harrisburg, ultimately reaching the Chesapeake Bay.

Thank You To Our Board President, Alan Vicory!

Alan Vicory has decided to retire as President of our Board this past year so we would like to thank Alan for serving on our board since 2012. Alan was a principal with Stantec Consulting specializing in watersheds and river basin management. Prior to joining Stantec served as longstanding Executive Director and Chief Engineer of the Ohio River Valley Water Sanitation Commission (ORSANCO).

Clean Water Certificate Training Program: Instructor Preparation Program

February 24th – 28th, 2025

Description: Apply to become an Instructor for the Clean Water Certificate Training Program (CWC Program)! The CWC Program for workforce development is an ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB) accredited certificate program that promotes job growth in the stormwater industry and delivers hands-on, classroom, and field-based learning on industry-specific skills and knowledge. Successful completion of the Instructor Preparation Program (IPP) will permit qualified candidates to continuously administer the CWC Program, no continued education units required
