Good morning:
The Insurance Brokers Association of Saskatchewan (IBAS) is currently accepting expressions of interest from member principals to join the ‘new’ IBAS Rural Brokerage Advisory Committee.
As some of you will recall, this committee originally formed in 2019, but tapered away during the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to member feedback, however, we feel the time is right to relaunch this effort to provide IBAS an important rural perspective on the unique challenges impacting our industry. This will also serve as a forum for brokerage leaders to share ideas and learn from one another.
Who should join?
We are searching for 12 – 24 individuals to take part — ideally, representative of the different regions of the province, as well as varied in terms of brokerage size and structure.
Participants should be a brokerage owner or the senior-most manager in a branch location. While we are not necessarily defining rural at this point, you should consider rural or small-town Saskatchewan your primary customer base. There is no cost to join.
What is the time commitment?
The current plan is to meet quarterly — twice in-person (once around our fall convention, and once in the spring) and twice by Zoom.
Our first meeting is confirmed for 8:30 – 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 14 at the Sheraton Cavalier Hotel in Saskatoon. The 2021 IBAS Convention & AGM will kick-off in the same venue later that morning.
How will you and your brokerage benefit?
You will have direct input into shaping IBAS policy positions and advocacy activities (with government, regulators, and carriers), as well as the programs and services we offer to members.
Additionally, you will have the opportunity to learn from your peers and connect with other industry leaders and subject matter experts who can help drive your business forward.
How do you express interest?
Please contact me directly at derek.lothian@ibas.ca or (306) 380-3765 before August 31 to indicate your interest — or if you have any questions.
Because we are ‘restarting’ this committee fresh, if you were a part of the original iteration and would like to join the new committee, please express interest once again.
Thank you in advance for your consideration. It's your engagement in IBAS that keeps our association strong and powers our influence.
Regards,
Derek Lothian, ICD.D
