Hello Friend,
Thank you for signing up for the first ever Rural Communities Rising E-Newsletter! We’re excited to share our journey with you, and are thankful for your support.
The idea to create this non-profit organization began when Laura from Raisin City reached out to tell us that she had run into an elderly friend at a local grocery store. Her friend, during a hot summer day, had walked barefoot from her home to the store to buy food for herself and family. Laura asked her why she was barefoot, to which her friend simply replied that she had no money to spend on shoes. Without thinking twice, Lara took off her own shoes and gave them to her friend. We were inspired by Laura’s act of kindness. With the help and generosity of many of you we organized a successful clothing distribution in Raisin City within just a few days of speaking to Laura.
Since then, we have offered direct services in Fresno County communities like Huron, Raisin City, San Joaquin, and Mendota. The communities we work in are full of hardworking and kind people who want the same thing that we all do; the ability to live in peace while providing stability to our family.
At Rural Communities Rising we have a vision of the future where families in rural communities can not only survive, but thrive. Alongside community members, we intend to make this vision a reality.
You’re invited to continue alongside us by keeping up with our future
