2024 SARM Midterm Resolution Deadline

 

The deadline to submit resolutions for the upcoming 2024 SARM Midterm Convention is Wednesday, September, 18, 2024, end of day. 

 

Resolutions must be received in the SARM office by this date in order to be addressed at the upcoming convention and included in the convention guide.

Each resolution must be emailed separately using the fillable submission form.

 

Please email resolutions to resolutions@sarm.ca.

SGI Public Grants Announcement


SARM has been in contact with SGI regarding the availability of grants to improve traffic safety within RMs. SGI offers a Provincial Traffic Safety Fund Grant program. Its goal is to stimulate and support local, collaborative action that will increase traffic safety awareness. 


The deadline for submissions for the fall intake is September 30, 2024.

SARM encourages its members to look at the program. So far in 2024, 15 RMs have taken advantage of the program with $228,526 in grants being provided as of June 30, 2024. This program is a great initiative by SGI to try and reduce traffic accidents and make our roadways safer.

Elm Tree Pruning Permitted Starting September 1


The annual ban on pruning elm trees ended August 31, paving the way for Saskatchewan residents to begin their seasonal pruning September 1.


Pruning is essential for maintaining tree health and reducing vulnerability to disease. By removing dead branches regularly and pruning properly, elm trees become less attractive to the elm bark beetle, which results in a lower overall risk of DED.

Crop Report for the Period of August 20-26, 2024


Producers have made good progress with harvest over the past week with 25 per cent of the crop now harvested, ahead of the 5-year average of 21 per cent. The storms brought strong winds and heavy hail and in some areas, the hail was as large as golf balls, resulting in total crop loss for some producers. Producers are hoping for warm clear days to help their crops mature and avoid additional harvesting delays.

More Doctors Recruited to Rural Saskatchewan


Fourteen new physicians are now practicing in rural communities across Saskatchewan after completing the Saskatchewan International Physician Practice Assessment (SIPPA) program in May.



The annual capacity of SIPPA has increased from 45 to accommodate an additional six to eight seats which will be divided across the three assessment cohorts throughout the year.
