Award Nominations Now Open


The Rural Health Association of Tennessee's Annual Awards Nominations are now open! Every year, RHA bestows awards upon impactful initiatives and individuals who are enhancing healthcare in rural Tennessee during our yearly conference. Details about the award classifications can be located here. If you have someone in mind whom you wish to propose for recognition, the nomination form can be found here. Send completed forms to info@tnruralhealth.org. Deadline for submissions is Friday, August 1st.

Academic Poster Contest


The 10th Annual Academic Poster Contest is now live! The virtual research poster competition offers an affordable avenue for students, residents, and faculty to present their research, eliminating the expenses associated with creating a traditional printed poster. Winners in each category will be granted a modest cash award. The deadline to submit is Friday, October 18th. Find out more about the contest here

We want to hear about the work you are doing in Tennessee! The Rural Health Association of Tennessee's Call for Proposals for our 2024 Annual Conference is now open! TennCare renewals are currently in progress. You can find your renewal date by creating a TennCare Connect  (TennCareConnect.tn.gov) account and linking it to your case.

  • TN-RHC Network Annual Meeting TN-RHC Network Annual Meeting on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. The meeting will cover RHC specific topics such as TennCare Updates, Emergency Preparedness, Compliance (Survey Tips and Strategies), Social Determinants of Health (data collection, coding and reporting), Quality Improvement projects, and more!   • Cardiac Emergency Response Plan 101Greater Knoxville American Heart Association staff will speak to business leaders about how and why to develop a Cardiac Emergency Response Plan. This webinar will take place on June 5th. Register here.




  • Fifth Annual Diabetes Coalition Meeting The virtual meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, June 26th, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. CT. TDH is inviting anyone who already works in the diabetes space or wants to start or expand diabetes prevention and management to attend.   • Resilient Tennessee Collaborative Meeting This August 28th meeting will discuss the HOPE (Healthy Outcomes from Positives Experiences) Framework and an introduction to ways organizations can bring more equitable access to Positive Childhood Experiences into their communities from utilizing free resources to staff training to organizational certification. More information to come!

  • CMS Approves TennCare III Amendment The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services approved a significant amendment to Tennessee’s Medicaid Waiver, TennCare III, aimed at enhancing healthcare access and support for TennCare members. For more information, click here.


  • Mental Health in Rural Communities This toolkit provides models, resources, and best practices to support the development and implementation of mental health programs in rural communities. For more information, click here.



  • Tennessee Community Health Survey This TDH survey is intended for everyone who lives in Tennessee and is 18 years or older. It is available to take in English or Spanish. The purpose of this survey is to determine the top health priorities for the community primarily in Maternal and Child Health. For more information, click here.


  • 25 States at Risk of Hospital Closures Rural hospital closures picked up in 2023 and nearly all rural hospitals face continued risk of closing due to serious financial challenges, with some states facing critical conditions in the short term. Read more about how this affects Tennessee Rural Hospitals here.





  • New Toolkit from RHIhub: Preventing Unintentional Injury This new resource from the Rural Health Information Hub gives the how and why injuries are so prevalent, and then provides a collection of effective program models with resources for planning, funding, and sustainability in your community.
