Engaging Rural Communities in Drug Take Back Webinar



Join RHA of TN to learn how to contribute to national awareness, obtain resources, and hear past success stories of the implementation of Drug Take Back programs throughout rural communities. 


National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is dedicated to educating the public on a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs. Learn more about how to safely dispose of prescription drugs, including the potential abuse of medications.

Call for Speaker Proposals


The Rural Health Association of Tennessee's 29th Annual Conference will be held November 15-17, 2023 in Knoxville, Tennessee.


We are now accepting presentation proposals. Proposals should highlight replicable programs, research, and/or collaborative efforts aimed at improving health and access to care in rural Tennessee.


The deadline for proposals is May 31st! Make sure to submit your proposal before the upcoming deadline. We want to hear from you!

Rural Health Day on the Hill

  • Narcan Over-the-Counter The U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved Narcan, 4 milligram (mg) naloxone hydrochloride nasal spray for over-the-counter (OTC), nonprescription, use – the first naloxone product approved for use without a prescription.   • Asking for a Friend Video Series The American Academy of Pediatrics has released the first video, about self-harm, in its "Asking for a Friend" mental health series aimed at teens.   • CDC Youth Risk Behavior Survey Trends Report The Youth Risk Behavior Survey Data Summary & Trends Report provides the most recent surveillance data, as well as 10-year trends, on health behaviors and experiences among high school students in the United States related to adolescent health and well-being.   • Appalachian Diseases of Despair Study A new report from the Appalachian Regional Commission and ETSU's Center for Rural Health Research finds that diseases of despair mortality had begun to decline between 2017 and 2018, but dramatically surged in 2020, likely due to the COVID-19 pandemic.   • CMS and COVID-19 Public Health Emergency Based on current COVID-19 trends, the Department of Health and Human Services is planning for the federal Public Health Emergency for COVID-19 to expire at the end of the day on May 11, 2023. Find the fact sheet here.
