Rural Talks with Jacy
"Rural Talks with Jacy" is a new, members only meeting were you can talk with the RHA of TN's Executive President, Jacy Warrell.

This is the perfect time to ask the questions that have been on your mind about what the association is doing. Don't have specific questions, but still want to come and listen? That's okay too! The first meeting will be January 28 at 12pm CST. This will be a monthly meeting on the 4th Friday of the month.

Since this is members only meeting, please email dorshonda@tnruralhealth.org or sign in to your member portal to find the link for the meeting. We look forward to seeing you there!

NRHA Policy Institute

The National Rural Health Association's Policy Institute has moved virtual!

The dates for this event are February 8-10, 2022. Meetings are being set up with our Congressmen on February 9th. Prices for the Policy Institute have been reduced. Attached here is an advocacy guide released by the NRHA.

Staff Spotlight

Dr. Vicki Burton
Join us in welcoming Dr. Vicki Burton to the RHA of TN Staff. Dr. Burton has 37 years of HR and Training experience and comes to us from Tennessee Department of Children’s Services. She has served as committee chair for Committee on Multicultural Affairs, is certified as a SMART Goals instructor, and is a Senior Certified Professional with International Personnel Management Association.
 
Her role with RHA of TN will be to lead the development of a Community Health Worker curriculum with an advisory group. We look forward to all the things she will accomplish for rural heatlh!

  • Healthcare in Appalachia This conference is designed to address the unique needs and circumstances in Appalachia. The conference is April 28-30,2022. Find out more information here.

  • TN Dept. of Health Panel Discussion Dr. Lisa Pearcy will moderate a panel discussion on addiction crisis entitled "From Cartels to Mainstreet: How Fentanyl and Meth Made Its Way to TN." This event is on January 26 from 10:00am-11:30am at Tennessee State Museum. Register for the event here

  • Resources for School-Based Behavioral Health Professionals During COVID-19 This is a four-part virtual training series on working with youth, parents, and other professionals during a global pandemic. Find out more info and register here.

  • Leadership Academy The leadership academy meets for 10-weeks; 6 live, group sessions, and 4 weeks on-demand. 2022 Online Meetings: May 18, June 1, June 15, June 29, July 13, July 27. Find out more information here.

  • Living Well with Chronic Conditions Workshop This is a free, six-week workshop for those living with chronic conditions. Register here.

  • Free Flu and COVID Vaccines Amerigroup has partnered with the Knowles Home Outpatient Care in the effort to combat the COVID pandemic and bring awareness to individuals. These eight clinics will provide flu and COVID vaccinations. To learn more, click here

  • Alzheimer's Disease The Department of Health and Human Services released the annual update to its National Plan to Address Alzheimer’s Disease, includes a new goal focused on work being done to promote healthy aging and reduce the risks that may contribute to the onset of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.   • Community Toolkit for Addressing Health Misinformation The resource help individuals, teachers, school administrators, and health care professionals to understand, identify, and stop the spread of misinformation. It can be found here.

  • Adolescent Boosters The CDC now recommends booster for adolescents aged 12-17 five months after their initial Pfizer-BioNTech vaccination series. Find more information here.

  • Rural Health Clinics Center for Medicare and Medicaid have released an updated version of their MLN for Rural Health Clinics. Find that resource here.

  • RHCVD Program Summary The Rural Health Clinic Vaccine Distribution Program (RHCVD) distributes COVID-19 vaccines directly Rural Health Clinics to increase the availability of COVID-19 vaccines in rural communities. Find out more details here.
