Virtual Meeting for RHCS


Join RHA of TN on October 28th from 9am-11am CST for a Virtual Meeting for Rural Health Clinics.

 

The presenters for this event will include Drew Staniewski, Deputy Director of TennCare; Zane Seals, Chief Financial Officer of TennCare; Jacy Warrell, Executive Director of RHA of TN; and Nathan Baugh, Executive Director of the National Association of Rural Health Clinics.

  • The State of Maternal Health in Tennessee: A Call to Action Join RHA of TN, the March of Dimes, and UTHSC College of Nursing for an free, online webinar on "The State of Maternal Health in Tennessee: A Call to Action" on October 12th at 11:00am CST with guest speakers Dr. Kate Fouquier and Kebera Leach.   • Public Health AmeriCorps Programs Do you know an organization seeking capacity to address a public health issue? AmeriCorps recently announced a new round of funding for Public Health AmeriCorps. The 2023 funding opportunity will support COVID-19 recovery, health equity, local public health, and will help create a pipeline of public health leaders. This webinar will provide an overview of Public Health AmeriCorps (PHA) — a new national service program in partnership with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) — and how to apply for funding.   • Traumatic Brain Injury Toolkit Brain Links has designed two new TBI toolkits for you, your family, friends, caregivers, educators, service professionals, and medical professionals.   • Breast Cancer Awareness Month TDH East Region will be collecting hats and scarves at the local health departments for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. During the month of October, the HDs will be taking up a collection of new scarves and hats to deliver to a local chemo center or breast cancer support group. Since many women lose their hair during cancer treatment, a bright scarf or hat can make their day. East HDs includes Anderson, Blount, Campbell, Claiborne, Cocke, Grainger, Hamblen, Jefferson, Loudon, Monroe, Morgan, Roane, Scott, Sevier, and Union.   • Dementia Risk Reduction Rack Cards As part of the BOLD grant, the Tennessee Department of Health’s Office of Patient Advocacy ordered dementia risk reduction educational cards for distribution. The team will deliver and mail the educational materials to partners who desire to have them. To request an order, click here


  • Measure Up: A Call to Action This report highlights six principles for measuring rural development progress to open and deepen conversations about better ways for funders and investors to design programs that consider lower-capacity communities’ realities, needs, and goals. It also contains recommendations for government, philanthropy, and rural practitioners to better measure what matters for rural. Read more here.

  • TennCare has launched a website to share resources and keep the public updated on the unwinding of the federal public health emergency. Find that information here.



  • 988 Suicide and Crisis Prevention Lifeline Beginning July 16th, 988 will become the new three-digit number for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. The Lifeline will provide compassionate, accessible care and support via phone, text, or online chat to anyone experiencing mental health-related distress. Anyone can use 988 if they have thoughts of suicide, mental health or substance use crises, or any other kind of emotional distress. Find out more about the new lifeline here.


  • COVID-19 Updates On September 12, the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services announced that people with public, private, or no insurance coverage can get COVID-19 vaccines at no cost, for as long as the federal government continues purchasing and distributing them. To find nearby locations for vaccines, masks, testing, and treatment, visit COVID.gov.
