• The Electronic Surveillance System for the Early Notification of Community-Based Epidemics (ESSENCE) is a national syndromic surveillance system used to monitor disease trends for early detection of potential outbreaks. Using ESSENCE, the TN Department of Health monitors weekly trends in suicidal behavior across the state. • Tennessee Rural Health Care Task Force Releases Recommendations to Improve Health Access and Outcomes for Rural Tennesseans The report includes policy opportunities, budget recommendations, legislative agenda items, and innovative programs across access to care, workforce development, and social drivers of health. • The Commonwealth Fund’s Scorecard on State Health System Performance is released every year and uses the most recent data to assess how well the health care system is working in every U.S. state. Read the report here.

• Local Health Departments Advance Health Equity with GIS This report covers how health organizations can quickly understand substance use disorders and address them, and how responders can use real-time visual data to combat the drug crisis using GIS. Read the report here.

• Moving Beyond Change Efforts: Evidence and Action to Support and Affirm LGBTQI+ Youth SAMHSA's report provides behavioral health providers, researchers, policymakers, and others with information about effective and ineffective practices related to youth of diverse sexual orientations and gender identities. • HRSA Released the 2023 Healthy Start Fact Sheet The fact sheet details how funding is being used across projects, demographics participants, and more. The Healthy Start program invests in communities to improve health outcomes before, during, and after pregnancy. Read the fact sheet here.

• HRSA Introduced an Updated Toll-Free Number for the National Maternal Mental Health Hotline: 1-833-TLC-MAMA (1-833-852-6262) The former number (1-833-9-HELP-4-MOMS or 1-833-943-5746) will continue to work for another year.

• HRSA released a Hotline Partner Toolkit for the National Maternal Mental Health Hotline The Toolkit is a one-stop shop for social media and print materials. Anyone may use these materials to promote awareness and use of the Hotline. Access the toolkit here.

• My Story Matters: Diversity Impacts Health Care The AAMA offers this video series in which medical students and physicians share how their backgrounds and life experiences inspired their career choice. Watch the series here.
