SHIP Expenses Reminder

Hospitals that selected the direct funding option for 2025-26 must use their funds for purchasing HCAHPS first. Any leftover funding can be used for other approved expenses that must be approved by Samantha Peck in writing.


Flex Grant Opportunities



Antimicrobial Stewardship Program

Webinar: Tuesday, December 9, 2:00 p.m.

  • Critical Access Hospitals are invited to participate in a Flex-funded Antimicrobial Stewardship Program designed to support data-driven quality improvement.
  • Using the program’s interactive dashboard, hospitals can efficiently review prescribing data, identify trends, and pinpoint opportunities to strengthen antimicrobial practices.
  • Join us for a live webinar for a full demonstration of the platform. A recording of the webinar will be available afterward.


Additional* Direct-to-Hospital Grants - Guidance in next RADAR! 

  • Wisconsin has the opportunity to apply for additional Flex funding this year, and we want to pass that funding directly to Critical Access Hospitals! We will release guidance for the next round of Direct-to-Hospital Grants in the next edition of the Rural Health Radar
  • These Direct-to-Hospital Grants will be for HCAHPS Improvement, EDTC Improvement, and Financial Improvement .

Rural Emergency Communications Operational Rapid Assistance Package

  • Technical assistance program for rural communities to enhance existing emergency communications infrastructure to improve the delivery of rural emergency services.

New! Youth Garden Grant

  • Amount: $750 + garden tools.
  • Application due date: December 12.
  • Who can apply: Any organization planning a new or improving an existing garden program that serves at least 15 youth between the ages of 0 and 18.
  • Description: Youth Garden Grants support school and youth educational garden projects that enhance the quality of life for youth and their communities.


New! Community Design for Physical Activity Grant - WI Department of Health Services

  • Amount: $25,000.
  • Application due date: December 19.
  • Who can apply: Community organizations (e.g., local or Tribal health departments, coalitions, non-profits).
  • Description: DHS is seeking proposals for projects that will increase physical activity through community design by collaborative partnerships and develop a local Active People, Healthy Wisconsin Action Plan or advance an existing policy or plan for systems change adopted for community design.


Walmart Foundation Spark Good Local Grants

  • Amount: $250 - $5,000.
  • Application due date: Quarterly, the next deadline is December 31.
  • Who can apply: Organizations with 501(c)(3) or 509(a) status, government agencies, schools, and faith-based organizations
  • Description: Local grants are designed to support local organizations that meet the unique needs of the communities where Walmart and Sam’s Club operate. Organizations must have a Spark Good account on Walmart.com/nonprofits in order to apply.
