Philadelphia, PA --- On June 18th
Rush Arts Philly (RAP), Danny Simmons (Rush Arts Founder), and artists Raphael Tiberino & Eric Battle are proud to present a comic book/illustration focused exhibition entitled, Power Fantastic: Artists Assemble!, as a visual treat to the streets and minds of Philadelphia!
Power Fantastic: Artists Assembled!
came about after a pretty spirited "geek out" session between Rush Arts Founder & artist Danny Simmons, impassioned artist Raphael Tiberino and graphic novel storyteller Eric Battle, about our love of comic books, art and pop culture. The goal of the exhibit is to bottle lightning again; to capture and intensify the dynamics and spirit of an exhibit we were a part of in the Kaboom! Pow! Zap!: The Power of Comics exhibit, held at Rush Arts NYC in 2004.
Power Fantastic: Artists Assembled is a collective visual statement, to the love of comic books, art and the fantastical realms of the imagination, that the amazingly talented, accomplished and diverse group of participating artists share: Micheline Hess (2017 Glyph Award), Jennifer Crute' (Paris Cullins (Marvel, DC Comics), Akinseye Brown (ECBACC), Sokoya Comics), Willis Nomo (MuralArts), Gabe Tiberino (MuralArts), Jarreau Wimberly (World of Warcraft, Warhammer), Jeffro Kilpatrick (Philly Artrepreneurs), Bernard Collins (Fleisher Art Memorial, spoken word), Maggie Lily (Phila. Jazz Project- PJP, UArts), Sole Rebel (MultiHop.TV), Nile Livingston (Creative Repute, PJP), Eric "Saga Moor" McLaurin (RAW Artists), Shawn Alleyne (Black Sci-fi.com), Cavin Jones (PJP) have been brought together to "Wow!" the audiences with some of the most powerful and compelling imagery they're going to witness this summer!
The further goal of the exhibit and corresponding art workshops is to engender the awe & excitement that goes hand in hand with being so inspired by the incredible visuals, that they'll want to create and add their own wondrous artistic visions to the medium.
This exhibition will include a range of public programs and events, all available for free to the public, including but not limited to artist talks, educational programming, and panel discussions.
Images, interviews and more information are available on request. Contact:

About Raphael Tiberino
Raphael Tiberino began painting at the age of four. The style of his latest work can be traced back to his love of comics as a child.Tiberino has been in the spotlight as a professional artist for over 25 years.
As a co-founder of the Subculture Gallery in New York City, he curated as well as participated in many art shows as well as showing in and curating the "Kapow! Boom! Zap!" show, at the Rush Arts gallery in Chelsea.
At that time, Tiberino was illustrating "Queenie's Story", for Slave Labor Graphics. The story was based on a tale his grandmother would always tell him about; a haunting she experienced as a child.
Teaching art is also a love of Tiberino's and he has been teaching off and on, since his graduation from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts.
His art resides in many a collection and his love of pen and ink, as well as his love of oil paint usually keeps him up until the wee hours of the morning.
Tiberino is also the president of his family museum.
The Ellen Powell Tiberino Memorial museum was set up by his late father Joseph in 1999 and houses an extensive collection of Ellen and Joe's artwork: oil paintings, prints graphite drawings and relief murals.
The museum also features the art of 20 other artists that Raphael and his father collected over the years. Tiberino likes to use the term "living museum", because many a day you will have artists and family members outside in the yard's painting.
