Dear Rutgers Health Community,

ο»Ώ

As we begin the fall semester, I’m excited to share several important updates shaping the future of Rutgers Health.

First, we welcome William F. Tate IV as the 22nd president of Rutgers University. President Tate brings a deep commitment to academic excellence, health, and the role of public universities in advancing opportunity and innovation.

ο»Ώ

This fall also marks progress on key capital projects that will strengthen our academic and clinical mission. Next year, researchers and students will prepare to move into the Rutgers Health building at the HELIX, a state-of-the-art research and innovation hub in New Brunswick designed to foster collaboration and discovery. At the same time, in Newark, Rutgers Health and University Hospital have launched the first phase of a major redevelopment of the Health Sciences campus, beginning with construction of a new Administrative and Clinical Facility. This is the first step in a multi-year effort to expand access to high-quality care and modernize the health campus for the region.

Internally, we are debuting a new events newsletter and internal SharePoint site; resources to keep our community connected and engaged with important activities across Rutgers Health.

Together, these milestones reflect the momentum of Rutgers Health and our collective vision for improving health, education, and care delivery for the communities we serve.

 Warm regards,

Brian L. Strom, M.D., M.P.H.

Updated COVID-19 Vaccines Now Available in New Jersey πŸ’‰

Here's what you need to know:

  • The New Jersey Department of Health has confirmed that the new COVID-19 vaccines are available in New Jersey to everyone 6 months and older for the 2025–2026 season.
  • You can get vaccinated at your regular provider or at many local pharmacies.
  • No prescription is required.
  • State regulators have issued guidance to NJ health insurance carriers to continue covering both the vaccine and its administration with no cost-sharing.
  • Rutgers is not requiring the COVID-19 vaccine, but strongly recommends it to keep you and those around you healthy.

If you have questions about coverage or encounter any issues, contact your insurance provider.
