It’s incredible and sometimes unbelievable what we see has transpired in the world since our last Quarterly Report.
So many distractions, difficulties, and heartbreak.
Our focus is on Jesus, picking up the cross, following, and obeying Him.
Oh, the wondrous cross!
Thanking God that all of us at RS have already decided to follow Jesus… the cross before us, the world behind us, no turning back.
You all know the song 🎶 … maybe your church even sings it.
But, the true reality is that there are still so many in Malawi (and the rest of the world) who have not heard or believed the Gospel yet.
Think about that for a moment … may God fill our hearts with His desire that all whosoever would know and worship Him in spirit and truth.
RS only exists to be ambassadors for Christ, as you will see in this update. RS has appointed a new administrator, William Mpenda, who has stepped into this position after serving the Lord faithfully for seven years in Ruth’s Shawl. We thank the Lord for this update in the Staff.
We thank you for your heart to get the Gospel to Malawi through your prayers and financial support.
A Note from William – Recently Appointed Executive Administrator
Ruth's Shawl has been busy sharing the gospel; therefore, the second quarter of the year, with no exception of challenges, has gone rather quickly.
As called, we have remained committed to serving as Christ's ambassadors in Malawi. With the overriding theme of teaching, training, and making disciples for Christ, the Ruth’s Shawl team has steadily advanced toward achieving these goals. Here are some of the highlights.
Children's and Youth Ministry
Weekly Ministry Meetings
The Ruth's Shawl Youth and Children Ministry in Chorwe has conducted meetings for a total of seven weeks.
The Ministry in Chigwirizano has held ten weeks of sessions, engaging children and youth in discipleship and community-building activities. We have a great time with the youth playing games and sharing the Bible Study. We went to Chigwiri Children’s Ministry. The story of Joseph and his rise to power in Egypt was taught. The memory verse was Proverbs 10:12.
Rescheduled Christmas Celebrations:
The RS Team organized two rescheduled Christmas celebrations for children and youth due to massive flooding the villages were not accessible in December:
On May 8th, we were in Chigwirizano and on May 21st, we were in Chorwe
These gatherings provided opportunities for fellowship, worship, and the reinforcement of Christian values among the youth and children.

Training and Discipleship
Over the past three months, the Ruth’s Shawl Training and Discipleship Team has successfully reached several key milestones:
Evangelism and Outreach:
Presented the Easter Jesus film Outreach in Chigwirizano. And also presented the "Jesus Film" outreach in Bandawe Village, Ntchisi, resulting in 24 individuals (9 adults and 15 youths) making commitments to Christ. The Team also conducted an Easter Outreach in Chigwirizano where the Jesus film was shown and Christ preached.
Juvenile Prison Ministry
Bzyanzi Prison Outreach
We visited Bzyanzi Juvenile Prison in Dowa for a Bible Study, where we discussed Ephesians chapter 3:1-6 with the prisoners. The ministry conducted a hygiene support initiative at Byanzi Prison.
Various essential items were distributed to inmates to address poor hygienic conditions.
These included:
Toothpaste, Toothbrushes, Body lotion, Soap, and other basic sanitary products
On another visit to the Bzyanzi Prison Outreach:
Mr. Msukwa and Miss Trizza—both former inmates—were invited to minister at Byanzi Prison.
Mr. Msukwa delivered a message on love and freedom in Christ, offering hope and spiritual encouragement.
Miss Trizza shared a personal testimony, encouraging inmates to trust in God during challenging times. Both speakers used their own experiences with incarceration to connect and relate to the audience.
Spiritual Impact:
Since the beginning of the quarter, the Bzyanzi Ministry, a total of 12 individuals have accepted Christ as their Lord and Savior.
Bicycles for RS Teachers
Ruth’s Shawl has procured three bicycles to enhance the Adult Literacy Program. The goal is to buy eleven bicycles in total as funds allow to distribute to each of the eleven adult literacy classes. We are confident that this gesture will be a blessing to our teachers, as this will help in dealing with the transportation issues that most of them have been having.
Thank You! Rock Harbor Church
A BIG thank you to Rock Harbor Church in Bakersfield, CA, for providing funds for Bibles for the Ruth’s Shawl Ministry. These Bibles, in their native Chichewa language, were gifted to each graduate of the Adult Literacy Program. Click here to see the video

The Lord has given RS eight acres of land, which is being used faithfully to teach, train, and disciple. Praying for the funds to complete a facility for ministry

Prayers and Petitions
• Following Jesus where He leads us.
Please pray for a preliminary trip (August 2025) to Monterey:
That it will be a strong foundation to ensure and prepare a mission trip to Malawi for RS’s
growth and stability in Christ.
The spiritual indications, prompts, and vision are confirming, so far, that a mission trip is
being orchestrated by the Lord. We are listening, obeying step by step, and are making
plans to be ready. We depend, as always, on God’s Will, the instructions in His Word,
and the prayers of His ambassadors. Please, please pray for RS to accomplish all that
the Lord intended, since He prepared those good works before the foundations of the
earth.
• Pray for financial wisdom and funds for RS.
• The continuing cost increase of all necessities for life in Malawi drains the resources for
ministry, so please pray.
• Pray for funds to complete the Administration building.
• Pray for the vehicles that we have to be in good condition, and a newer vehicle be
added to the team.
• Bicycles for the teachers
• Pray for the operations of the ministry, that we have all the resources we need for the
work, and that we reach those who have not been exposed to the truth.
The RS team would like to thank you for your continued prayers as we minister each day to do God's work as He leads. Please share this newsletter with your friends and church family and encourage them to pray for the work in Malawi.
