The Future of Work is Diverse, Inclusive, Just and Equitable

GlobalMindED closes the equity gap by creating a capable, diverse talent pipeline through connections to role models, mentors, internships for low-income students, returning adults, First Gen to college and inclusive leaders who teach them, work with them and hire them.
Rx for Resilience: Altruism

Altruism is defined as an unselfish concern for other people. This leads one to acting out of a desire to help others, rather than a sense of obligation. Many link this word to moral, ethical, or religious practices. Regardless of where this desire to uplift, support, and care for others, having an altruistic perspective is an essential trait in creating a more inclusive and equitable world.

There is a difference in giving with the goal of gaining something in rewards and giving selflessly. It is easy to slip into a mindset of wanting to donate, volunteer, or serve to make yourself look better, add it to your resume, or get something in return. This is not true altruism.

Take a moment today to reflect on yourself and your own habits. What drives you to serve others and help? Are you acting out of an altruistic spirit? Or are you placing expectations on what you will get in return for giving to others? In what ways can you continue to challenge yourself to unselfishly serve and support others?

This Sunday, we continue to celebrate National Disability Employment Awareness Month. As you reflect on ways in which you can serve and give back to your community, we encourage you to hire people who are diverse and of differing abilities. Open your hearts and minds to those with different lived experiences than you and invite them to join you in activities, the workplace, or community. You also can vary the mediums you take in, diversifying the shows, books and music you interact with. Check out different inclusive flims, art created by people with different abilities, and read some books with diverse perspectives.

Living altruisitically can be challenging, and we admire your continuous efforts to reflect on your intentions and open your heart towards those who need support. Have a restorative Sunday and keep living with a GlobalMindED perspective!
