Rx for Resilience: Fall

In many parts of the world (especially in temperate climates), fall begins around September 21/22 with the autumnal equinox and ends December 21 with the winter solstice and the official end of fall. For this time period, when day and night are nearly equal in length and many regions experience warm but not hot temperatures, it is a time to savor the change of seasons, take stock and observe the miracles of nature.

Fall can be like a quiet rendition of your favorite classical or indigenous flute music—crisp air, amber leaves, and possibility swirling in every breeze. It’s a season of transformation, where nature sheds what no longer serves and invites us to do the same. The shortening days remind us to slow down, reflect, and gather warmth—both literal and emotional—for the months ahead. Fall is an opportunity to turn inward--a time to harvest lessons, kindle creativity, and prepare the soul for winter’s hush, often harsh weather and hibernation.

As the air becomes cooler and the leaves begin to change, pause, take stock, and refocus. The season of fall can encourage us to set clear intentions, make thoughtful plans, and move forward with steady purpose.
