Rx for Resilience: Instruct

To instruct is more than giving directions—it is the act of guiding others toward knowledge, skill, or understanding. True instruction blends clarity with care, ensuring that the learner not only knows what to do, but also why it matters. Eventually, powerful instruction leads to self-guided learning and a passion for knowledge, challenge and endless curiosity.

Whether in your family, relationship, neighborhood, classroom, workplace, or your community, instruction shapes growth when it is purposeful, respectful, and rooted in the belief that every person can learn and improve. When we instruct with intention, we empower others to think, create, and succeed. This can be by example as well as in more formal ways like teaching, coaching, mentoring and guiding.

This week, think about the ways- overt and covert- that you instruct others with what you know, value and care about and observe the many people in your lives who instruct, enrich and inspire you.
