This week we looked in awe at the incredible new images captured by NASA's James Webb Space Telescope. Thanks to the vision, bravery and bold action of our aerospace leaders, a new era in astronomy is upon us. We have captured full-color images with new cosmic features. Joyfully we have gathered as a community to glimpse deeper into our universe and ponder the grandness of this life.

NASA Administrator Bill Nelson described this discovery as a helpful tool in “uncovering the answers to questions we don’t even yet know to ask; questions that will help us better understand our universe and humanity’s place within it."

“This is a singular and historic moment,” said Thomas Zurbuchen, associate administrator for NASA’s Science Mission Directorate. “It took decades of drive and perseverance to get us here, and I am immensely proud of the Webb team. These first images show us how much we can accomplish when we come together behind a shared goal, to solve the cosmic mysteries that connect us all. It’s a stunning glimpse of the insights yet to come.”

Not only are we drawing together to see deeper into our existence and universe, but we are crafting more inclusive ways for everyone to "see". recent NPR podcast, Doris Daou, one of the co-authors of Touch the Invisible Sky, shared her work on creating a book in Braille that makes images from NASA space telescopes accessible to people with limited vision. Also, this spring, NPR reported on how visually impaired citizens can hear the sounds of black holes, opening up awareness to experience these miraculous aspects of the universe audibly.

Today, we invite you to reflect on what we can see. While there are so many things that we see that may be discouraging and overwhelming, keep our eye focused on the beauty and awe that exists energizes us to bravely change what we can in the here and now. What courage do you need to summon to take on the largest problems that you see? What has come in to perspective for you recently? How can we cultivate this new knowledge to continue growing and broadening our understanding of others? May we commit to brave action ourselves and may we hold the “space” for others to do the same. Like the amazing discoveries revealed last week, these miracles are possible. Seeing with eyes, ears and heart will allow us to transform our current challenges, seek and deliver the best within ourselves and others and realize here on earth the unlimited potential of the universe.
