It is 2021 and for those who spent part of the last decade with Vision 2020 as their future forward focus, last year was not what any of us pictured.
What is your vision for this year, come what may? What are the things that you will hold true to no matter what may be going on around you? What do you see yourself doing most clearly? Who are those you most want to be with? What cause do you most want to serve to transcend your own challenges and setbacks?
Indigenous people around the world and our Native American tribes in the United States have long used the ritual of a vision quest to define what they want over the arc of time, as in the year ahead. Whether you keep a journal, reflect quietly in meditation, make visuals to portray your thoughts, participate in a silent retreat, go on a solo retreat or pray for your highest and best vision for 2021, think about your long game for this year and the person you most want to be as you walk your unique path. Resilience depends on knowing where you want to go, especially if knowing where you are now is not where you want to be. Your vision is your guiding light in the dark times, the clarifying lens out of ambiguity and the grist for the will to remain resolute.

Your generous support will allow us to take our work 10x and reach these talented students at scale who lack the resources and support we provide. Your support also helps teachers who can't afford the conference fees, faculty at colleges which are under resourced and students who persist at those universities despite food insecurity and/or housing insecurity.

As America positions itself for a very uncertain and constantly evolving global marketplace, will the Heartland become America’s “great connector” or “great divide”?
