Principal's Post
100th Day of School
We will be celebrating the 100th day of school, right now that is February 6th. Students and staff can dress as 100 days (school appropriate), 100 months or 100 years old. If we have any more snow days, this date will be changed to reflect the correct day.
Snow Days
This is a reminder that the KCSD has five snow days built into our calendar. If we miss more than 5 days for inclement weather, we will begin adding days onto our calendar. Please be aware of this as you begin planning your summer vacations. It is a good idea to leave a week open after the scheduled last day of school (this year it is June 1) just in case we have to add onto our calendar.
CogAT Testing
CogAT testing is scheduled for our third grade students February 6-8.
Sincerely,
Sara Callahan

Notes from the Nurse
Remind your child to wash hands, before eating, after bathroom, and when they get home from school! Also help them remember to keep hands out of mouth, nose and eyes. Objects should be kept out of mouth also. This greatly reduces the spread of illnesses.
Symptoms of the Flu
There are many illnesses going around including strep throat, colds and flu.
The symptoms of a cold and the flu are similar and it can be difficult to determine if you have a cold or the flu. Typical symptoms of a cold include:
- Scratchy sore throat
- Sneezing
- Runny nose
- Mild cough
- Children may run a low fever (up to 102°F)
Typical symptoms of the flu include:
- Sudden headache
- Dry cough
- Runny nose
- Sore throat
- Muscle aches
- Extreme fatigue
- Fever up to 104°F
And please remember:
Please keep your child home if any of the following are present:
- a fever of 100º F (37.8º C) in the past 24 hours
- Tylenol or Ibuprofen used to control fever in the past 24 hours
- an undiagnosed rash
- vomiting or diarrhea in the past 24 hours
- suspected conjunctivitis (pink eye) or yellow eye drainage
- strep throat- if awaiting culture results or less than 24 hours of antibiotic treatment
We appreciate your help as we work to prevent the spread of viruses and other communicable diseases throughout our communities.
If you have any questions, contact the school nurse.
